Can we get back on topic, please?

Judging by this, Stone is some kind of Pentecostal. I’m not sure, but I think that “verbal inspiration of the Bible” means they believe that God dictated the Bible, and the authors were merely scribes.

Of course, Jesus said that only the Father knows the day and time of the Second Coming, so any attempt to predict it is futile.

Stone is also a premillenialist, and a believer in the so-called rapture. At least they believe in the Trinity.

As a Catholic, I’m going to stay away from Stone and his teachings.

God bless us all,

Ruthie
Dictation is a slightly different claim than the claim of verbal inspiration. Both have in common that they are wrong. They both seem to stem from the idea that since the Bible is our prime (or only) source of authority, then God must have written it so that we really can’t misunderstand, and so… (fill in the blank with a man made error). It is used in an attempt to justify the man made doctrine of right of private interpretation by all Christians.

From several different sources, verbal inspiration asserts that God actually guided the words the men chose in expressing the teachings… that God inspired the complete text(s) of the Bible, OT and NT in both historical and doctrinal details. The idea of verbal inspiration recognizes that the linguistic form of a text cannot be separated from its meaning.

Of course, this kind of belief stems from fallible men who had no promise of protection of the Holy Spirit, interpreting the Word of God as they desire. Neither the means, nor these resulting beliefs are Catholic, and should be rejected. They do not stem from the Will of God.

Young man, if their was a prize for twisting what the Word of God teaches you would win hands down. When I give you a passage of Scripture you outright reject it. God did not give his Word to just a select few, it is for all Christians to understand. Paul says that baby Christians should only understand the baby food (milk) from the Word and mature Christian understand the meat of the Word so I guess you are still feeding on milk.
The idea that Christian can not understand the Word is a old ploy by the Catholic Church to maintian control of it’s followers… They wanted Christians to be solely dependent on the church which give the Catholic Church control over wealth’
The first protesters of the Catholic Church were not protesting over docture, they were protesting over the Churches abuse of it’s power and wealth. false Catholic doctiure developed later
Vehement criticism from someone like you, is like great praise from someone who speaks the truth. So, I’m not in the least offended. Actually, thank you.

I have illustrated each time how your view is false, and where it is false. Your true colors come out now, that you are very anti-Catholic. Being anti-Catholic is the same as being opposed to the Bride of Christ. I don’t see how that will help your relationship with Christ.

God gave His Word for all of His family. He also created His one Church for His entire family as the upholder and defender of truth. That you reject His Church, and distort His word is up to you. I will not join you in this. God gave us His Church to teach all of the faithful. The same Church gave us the Scriptures, and teaches the correct and true meanings of the Scriptures. I responsibly tell you the truth. If I told you different, then I would be lying to you.

Perhaps you provide a little projection in falsely accusing me. You say that I have rejected Scripture you offer, yet in fact, I have not only used this same Scripture, teaching the correct meanings of it, but also offered additional Scripture for discussion. Honestly, I’m the only one of either of us who has asked to use all the Scripture, and not throw any away, nor create any meanings that conflict with other Scripture passages. You have shown to pick and choose what you like and don’t like, then fail to admit when it conflicts with other Scriptures.

You somehow fail to see that we both quote the same Scripture passages. However, what you’re asserting it means is different that what I assert it means, and you seem really not to like that. I follow the true authority established by Christ to teach God’s word without error. You offer yourself as the final interpreter. So, as you attempt to condemn the correct teachings, **you simply express that the truth is so foreign to you, that you accuse the light of being darkness. **

There was never then, nor is there now any trouble with doctrine in God’s one true Church. The doctrine taught by in the early Church is still taught today in God’s one true Church. The problem was only with personal behavior… what’s new? The “reformers” heretically rejected doctrine in order to reject the authority of the Church.

I respect those who seek God. However, you will never really know God by doing it the way you are doing. You, like Perry Stone are just being wacky in the method of learning about God’s teachings. **To the extent that you reject what Christ has established, distorting God’s teachings, you know less about the true Christ. **You also reject the means that can best apply the salvation of Christ to your life.

… The idea that Christian can not understand the Word is a old ploy by the Catholic Church to maintian control of it’s followers… They wanted Christians to be solely dependent on the church which give the Catholic Church control over wealth’…
Your premise about the Church just wanting control over others is completely wrong. The Church is what Christ established. If you have a problem with the authority of the Church, you have a problem with Christ. That there has been poor behavior in the Church, even by some in the leadership is completely true. However, there have also been saints and wonderful saintly leaders. Even with poor behavior by leaders, the Church has never once taught in error regarding faith and morals… The Church is protected from teaching error, even though no such protection is guaranteed by Christ regarding personal behaviors.

So, you’re willing to let poor behavior by some humans keep you from what Christ established for you, and me, and all of us? I could not truly consider myself as one seeking Christ if I made that judgment. **No person will stand in my way of knowing, being close to, and walking in friendship with Christ. This is exactly why I am a member of the Catholic Church. **

You and Perry Stone are alike in this manner. The errant thinking of those who think they’re doing what they should by false man made doctrines, instead of truly learning what God has asked is disordered Christianity. It is nonsense to me.

You certainly prove one thing-----A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

As one famous men once said, I HAVE BEEN TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN, I HAVE SEEM THE OTHER SIDE AND I KNOW WHAT LAYS AHEAD

Well, thank you. I really can’t take all the credit, and I really don’t enjoy exposing you as one who has little knowledge of truth. Honestly, you have done this yourself. I have provided the truth in line with the authoritative Church protected by Christ, and you have opposed and rejected it. Knowing little truth, and much false interpretation, you more than anyone proved your little knowledge of truth can be dangerous. Not knowing the truth of God’s Church, you proceed to accuse the light of being darkness, then you revel in being in relative darkness. It is dangerous for you, in that this affects your salvation, and friendship with Christ.

I hope you get nearer to the top of the mountain, but thus far you lie miserably stuck nowhere near the top. I don’t expect you to understand what has been presented to you immediately. However, the person who cares about truth, would examine and really determine if it is correct. You’ll find that it is. I have showed you great treasures, but it’s not from me, as it was given to us all from God.

I have faithfully shared the truth of God’s Word with you, defended true doctrine and rejected false man made doctrine. For now, you have shown yourself not to be a person who can have a serious discussion about the truth. That you reject the true Catholic teachings of God’s word, and make yourself as final interpreter of God’s word, you do to your own peril. Since you have shown no interest, nor ability to discuss honestly and truthfully, I have you on my Ignore List.

You are so wrong and intolerent. I have walk with the Lord Jesus for many a year. He has carried my throught bad times as well as good times. He sheilded me in war and kept me for danger when I was thrown for a car accident. I know him very well.

Will you two CUT IT OUT! Look at the** thread title**!

You two have effectively hijacked this thread to have your own fun little battle. Knock it off.

There are a bazillion threads where Biblical authority is already the subject. Go there, or start your own thread.

If I was your mama, I’d send you to your rooms.

Out of patience,

Ruthie

Ruthie,
God bless you, if you’re out of patients, who would you help if you were good doctor? Obviously kidding. I’d already put him on ignore before you posted. Did you read that? Do you think anything was said that wasn’t true? Besides, I don’t like the Brazilian threads, as I can’t write in their language.

I have great patience, but no desire to share with those who show having no interest in listening to truth.

The thread title was never misunderstood, but other things have a direct impact on this type of discussion. It had to do with the validity of criticizing Perry Stone’s methods, because this is the same doctrine used by Perry Stone. I’ts even related to the post you made about “verbal inspiration”. If you read my last posts to you, you’d know. If you read my previous post in this thread, you’d also know the anti-Catholic is on ignore, which means I can’t even see his last post, or any of them now, and what you don’t know is that I don’t plan on opening it. I don’t need to. One has to admit that the idea has a direct affect on this thread, as it does so many other threads. Evidence is how often it’s brought up. It’s an underlying factor to understanding many things, including the errancy of Perry Stone.

He sells communion kits by mail!
Unbelievable! If you don’t believe in the real and true Presence, for them it can be probably more like community meals on wheels and it won’t matter to them. Fortunately, he cannot validly consecrate a host.

In regard to the true priesthood and valid consecration, irreverence is sometimes pointed out. Christ gave us a Eucharistic Miracle which occurred near Siena, Italy in 1330, after a priest carelessly and irreverently (which was attributed to apathy) placed the Eucharist in a prayer book to take to a peasant who was ill. When the priest reached the ill person and opened the book, the Eucharist was stained with living blood, and both pages of the prayer book were bloodstained. I saw the bloodstained page during my trip to Italy last month, when we visited Cascia where the bloodstained page which stuck to the Eucharist is displayed in a reliquary in the Basilica, which also houses the incorrupt body of St. Rita. The priest was penitent, and was later pardoned.

He holds the rank of “ordained “bishop”” in the “Church of God” headquartered in Tennessee. It claims to be “Christian”, “Pentecostal”, “Protestant”, “Unified”, and “Charismatic”, “Evangelistic”. Perry obviously is not in the line of apostolic Succession, so as a “bishop” ordained in that church, he is in reality no more a true Bishop that any lay Christian. That title of bishop from the “Church of God” has no authority handed down from God. A claim they cannot truthfully make, is that their church was built by Christ. Theirs is merely another man made church, with man made doctrine, interpreting Scriptures as they feel the need to do so, and having no authority handed down from Christ. They can quote Scriptures, but can’t be counted on to teach what they truly mean. So, they can’t truly claim to have the proper teaching of the full Gospel.

Even if sincerely believing, he is sincerely perverse from the authority God established. So, I agree that he’s wacky. We Catholics know that Perry Stone (like any and all the others in the private interpreting crowd) has no authority whatsoever to teach his interpretations, if they differ with the Magisterium.

Vatican II (Dei Verbum # 10) taught: “The task of authoritatively interpreting the word of God, whether written or handed on [Scripture or Tradition], has been entrusted exclusively to the living Magisterium of the Church, whose authority is exercised in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Anyone claiming to be a “theologian” who would also claim that he can ignore the Magisterium in order to find the truth is ignorant of the truth of Christ. The teaching of the Magisterium is the prime, God-given means of knowing the truth. There is no license or valid freedom here to go beyond what he’s qualified to do, according to what God has established. Per the way God set things up, Perry Stone is not qualified nor entrusted with authority to interpret the Word of God. We Catholics know that the correct method is to study the sources of revelation, but then give the final word to the Church. He who does not follow that method is not a qualified theologian.
not to rabblerouse as i am a practicing Catholic, but i disagree with the ‘magisterium’, and in prayer groups/Bible study/lectio, etc., others do discuss Scriptures in the view discerned by them. moreover, it’s not the ‘church’ nor pope nor bishops, though they be Called And Gifted, that ‘interpret’ the Scripture, they are humans too. it’s by The Holy Spirit, God, And prayer that God Willing we may know Scripture. God Has Given me Inspiration (thanks be to GOD) to write some ‘devotionals’/Scripture stuff on my fb, i’m not a ‘bishop’…this ‘reg’ is one of the problems i would think some protestants/evangelicals have with Catholic regulations. The WORD can come upon learned and unlearned alike. i agree, priests, bishops, etc. have much training in Biblical study, maybe history, possibly language/translation some as well; however it’s on GOD who may know, and, LORD HAVE MERCY be i wrong, i feel the church must not denote mankind as the ‘interpreter of Scripture’ period end. this ‘rule’, man-made (though i’ve seen The Scripture used to cite it, and disagree, God Forgive, with the context/interpretation thereof. one cannot simply ‘shoot down’ evangelicals or prophets on the basis of that ‘man-made’ doctrine. you and i and anyone else God Willing can carry the Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of Scripture if God Wills it. we can understand God Willing and we can know, not ‘by the bishops’ strictly (though they can know just as well God Willing and if they discern and pray carefully), but By GOD, it’s HIS WORD, available GOD WILLING to everyone via the Great Commission, PLGB friend! thanks be to GOD or maybe it’s the ‘authoritative’ thing that’s the ‘key word’ in a church sense? idk…Forgive me for the trouble y’all, PLGB

I occassionally watch his program on our Local Protestant Station here in Augusta, Ga.

Disagree with most of his Teachings, particularly his interpretation of the End Times.

I ALSO am Disgusted by his Selling Of Communion Kits by Mail.
