Why are they calling you a hypocrite?

You acted PERFECTLY according to your professed beliefs.

It would have been hypocrital of you TO have attended the wedding, feeling as you do.
 
Ah thanks for the clarification about Decree Nisais and annulments. Everything’s making perfect sense now.

Why would anyone persecute. What’s done is done, although the OPs actions were in my judgement correct. The sister lives in adulterous sin and further, unworthily receives the Blessed Sacrament. That is something than needs work.

His sister, literally and fugitively. The OP must convince her to turn from her sin. That’s his mission.
