The Romans thought we were cannibals 😉

They think it will cause societal division and threaten the sovereign dictator’s power, having a ruler higher than he (God) and being accountable to another foreign ruler (the Pope).

Jesus said; **“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (JN 9:5)

“For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” **(Jn 3:20)

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

Why does the Church ban some forms of government?
I don’t know that anyone can accurately say that the Church “bans” some forms of government. Perhaps you could be more precise in what you mean, and what forms of government you’re talking about.

One example:

The church does not allow its members to be communists. That is analogous to a country which does not allow its citizens to be Catholic.

Well being communist would mean no religion. So you can’t be Catholic and be against religion. That is just one reason. I’m sure you can come up with the rest.

To the OP, well I feel like you know the answer (ignorance, hate, intolerance, etc) but what your really trying to express is how awful that is. I hope I’m right. I think everyone should have a right to religious freedom, including Christianity. Let’spray for it!🙂

Why do some countries ban Christianity?
Because we’re a threat to them. Look at Communism, they dont’ like religion, any religion, because they want people to have complete and utter loyalty to the State.

Well, monks and nuns are “communists” of a purer sort anyway, and the Church certainly does not object to people being in those orders.

The article you posted pretty well explains why the Church condemns communism, as it has been expressed as a political movement. It has ruled nowhere where it did not carry out prodigious murders. The Soviet Union, perhaps 60 million. China seemingly more.

Leave aside the Catholic Church for a moment, and read all three volumes of A. Solzhenitsyn’s “Gulag Archipelago”. Solzhenitsyn was not Catholic. No one could possibly read those volumes and NOT condemn political communism as it has manifested itself. Read them, and so will you.
