I was discussing the canon of Scripture with a non-Catholic who said the Pershitta (pronounced Pesheeta) (alternate spellings are also seen elsewhere of which I don’t have at my fingertips) canon is the same canon of Scripture(both NT & OT) that the protestants have today. He said these canons of scripture were completed in the 2nd century AD. When I pressed him on the books included, he ended up saying that there may have been one extra book more than his Protestant canon.
Does anyone know much about the Pershitta and Oriental canons of Scripture or if there were really such canons in the 2nd century AD? Does anyone know of a reliable source that addresses either of these so-called canons?
Thanks,
Larry
