Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Quakers, Prosperity preachers, and your garden variety “Bible Church” springing up on every corner.
I agree Steve. I have tried to communicate this in the past and apparently failed.

Making this connection of “Bible Alone” theology to the extreme of Jehovah’s Witnesses mentality should be a huge step toward refuting the bible alone theology. I know there is no reasonable, Trinitarian, bible alone advocate that would accept changing the bible to adhere to certain beliefs but if all bible alone advocates could realize that there theology, if taken to its ultimate ends, could end up where JW’s have, or worse, I think they might rethink this theology.

Does this make sense?

Peace!!!

ad,

It is difficult to have someone that believes in the Bible alone to accept that once the door of personal Bible study is open without restraint then the results are what we see…those that agree that JW are as you say anti-trinitarian do not see this as springing from their Well…that is the problem…

Yes, it makes complete sense. As the years of have past since the “Reformation” how many Protestant churches do you know that are even aware of the word “Sacrament”, much less its true meaning? This is just one example. As time continues and people decide for themselves, without any guidance from a true authority, the meaning of scripture, the truth of the faith handed down to us from the Apostles begins to fade into something unrecognizable.

Coptic,

I think you are proposing the “can’t see the trees for the forest” concept and I can understand this concept as we all fall into this to some degree. But the people who are very intellectual and are diligently exploring the truth also understand this concept. This doesn’t mean the trees can’t actually be seen if you continually refocus your sight. I’m pretty sure there are bible alone people that consistently think this about us Catholics also. But here‘s the thing – You and I both understand the long proven history of the Catholic Church and the short proven history of Protestantism, but I’m proposing that it, Protestantism, has not finished evolving and we can see it in this line of thinking…

1st, Protestants remove books from the bible, 2nd Protestants interpret the remaining scriptures in error, 3rd JW’s change these scriptures to read the way they need them to read.

As I have stated before, I would never want to put our Protestant brothers and sisters into the same basket as the JW’s, but this line of thinking cannot be denied as having similar theology/philosophy or whatever the correct word is. Am I the only one seeing the similarity in these two theologies?🤷

Peace!!!

I believe that the issue is not people but thoughts. The thought process produces these errors that snatch people.🙂
