I have searched for ways to consecrate myself to Christ as I feel called to a Spousal relationship with him. I looking into being a nun but was not accepted due to mental illness. This is the same response I received from Institutes. Please pray for me as I still feel this calling and am not left with many options accept some type of personal consecration. Pray for God’s guidance in my vocation.

Mental illness usually gets exacerbated by fraternal correction. Plus the fact that when entering the convent, you’re going to be faced with your faults.

You’re not the only person with mental illness who has felt the attraction to deepening their baptismal promises. I would recommend a local spiritual director, frequenting the sacraments, wearing the Five-Fold scapular, praying the rosary and the Liturgy of the Hours on a schedule would go a long way to helping your condition stabilize, as well.

The Catechism states that each person is a charism, a gift to the world. You can develop a Personal Prayer Rule, devise a distinctive garb, and eventually apply to your bishop for recognition as a lay contemplative. A spiritual director well known to the Chancery would be highly advisable.
