Personal dilemma regardin lectures

As long as the EF is not available to you, I, personally, would decline, but in the OF it is acceptable. Still you must feel comfortable with the responsibilites of being a lector.

30 years ago I was a lector for our local OF parish. But eventually began to be uncomfortable serving in this manner, so I dropped out.

Since the beginning of 2012 I have only attended 3 OF Masses, opting to drive 75 miles each weekend (each way) for the EF Mass.

Not to get to technically but . . . 😃

Lector is an instituted ministry. A person who has not received this ministry is correctly called a reader even though they are filling the role of a lector.

Right not it appears that most dioceses use Lector along with Acolyte for those going to be ordained rather than placing those not to be ordained in these ministries.
