**Nothing will keep Anglicans away more than this kind of triumphalist nonsense. **
The more of it I read, the less I want to be Catholic (and I really do think I am going in the direction of converting).
What Henry VIII did was to set in motion a movement that has enriched Christendom far beyond its numbers. The Book of Common Prayer casts a long shadow over all English language religious language and liturgy. Its influences over the new ICEL translation of the Roman Missal are unmistakable. There is hardly a Christian denomination (including, of course, the Roman Catholic Church) that does not use language from the BCP.
In addition, in returning to the Catholic Church, we bring what Anglicans have developed for over four centuries, including rich music, liturgical beauty, and a respect for the solemnity of the sacraments sometimes lacking in Catholic churches.
The Catholic Church will be richer for this. It will be better than if Henry had not “stolen” whatever he is supposed to have stolen.
