St. John has something to add to the subject. He was the beloved Apostle who Christ dearly loved … enough to entrust his Mother Mary to, and perhaps the only one of the 12 that lived a full life w/o being martyred.

1st John 2:3-6 And by this we may be sure that we KNOW HIM, if we keep his commandments. He who says " I know him" but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps his word, in him truly love for God is perfected. By this WE MAY BE SURE THAT WE ARE IN HIM; he who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

Only for 903 more posts, But ill go ahead and cut it out.

yes, this is one of the best psgs to use against OSAS…

we ought to walk as he walked… Jesus was a virgin and remained sexually pure… as the saints did also…

I, of all people, know how hard it is to be sexually pure when no longer a virgin… The body thinks that after it gets such things, it is “entitled” to get it again… 😃 or something… the body has a mind of its own… :mad:

but i just tell the body NO!! as though it were an unruly child who’s spoiled rotten…

it is kinda strange that the longer i go without gratification, the more my body… at least sometimes… seems to … crave “it”… you would think it would give up after a few yrs…

this is kinda scary… but when i recall the way this sin separated from from Christ (more than i already am just by being on Earth still… :() well… I’m just not going to do it anymore…

another bad thing about celibacy… Once the devil knows he can’t get you in one area, he just attacks in some other area… That swine!

just never - ending problems (SIGH)… :whacky::banghead::ouch::hypno:

Southern Baptists, among other groups, speak of needing a personal relationship with Jesus. Being a “not-yet Catholic but hunger to be” can you tell me what the Church’s position is on this term, process, etc. and if it is considered orthodox.

Thanks,

Riley Kinney
A few quotes from our Holy Fathers:

Pope John Paul II - “Conversion means accepting by a personal decision, the saving sovereignty of Christ and becoming his disciple.” Mission of the Redeemer

JP II - “It is necessary to awaken again in believers a full relationship with Christ, mankind’s only Savior. Only from a personal relationship with Jesus can an effective evangelization develop.” Speech to bishops of Souther Germany, 12-4-1992

Pope Benedict XVI - "Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.

These are just a few - there are plenty more - Yes, at some point we each must answer the question on our own, personally, that Jesus asked Peter - “but who do you say that I am?” Mk 8:27-30

Go ahead, open the door to your heart and life to him and as you do you can feel “very Catholic.”
