I think God wants us to TRY…being perfect is his job, thats just my opinion and prayer does help believe me I have felt God’s hand on my shoulder many times

. . . . I want to be a good catholic man but I have many vices that I cant seem to break. I have some carryover problems that are stuck to me like leaches from my old atheist days, notably, a problem with addictions to certain things. I only ask for some sort of advice in getting rid of addictions. I have attempted fasting, reading the bible, but still, i cant break through. Sometimes I pray, but I dont feel it most of the time. It is affecting my spirituality because I feel that these vices are preventing me from fully being with God. Thank you for listening. -Alex
Hi Alex, you are right, the vices can prevent you from getting closer to God; Focus instead on VIRTUES that are the direct opposite of those particular vices - Read here for more: familyland.be/mercy/53b-seven-capital-virtues-and-seven-capital-sins.html

Watch this video: familyland.be/en/message-of-hope.html

And I know that you are not married (yet?), but start to look at this: familyland.be/family_consecration/introduction-to-consecration-to-the-holy-family.html as it can prepare you to be a most incredible father and husband, OR spectacular religious, which ever direction you take (spiritually, ALL peoples are your family). You can learn there how to implore the Holy Family, especially St. Joseph, to help you live a holy life

Welcome!

I want to let you know that these things can be overcome. I am a recovering sex addict, and through the grace of God I hope to stay in a state of recovering and not fall back into it. Sometimes I still slip in acts of impurity, but I keep getting back up. However, I never want to go down that dark road again - it nearly destroyed my life, my marriage, and my soul.

The BEST weapons you have in the fight against impurity are the sacraments. Jesus gave them to us for a reason. Frequent confession (weekly) and go to daily mass. Pray before the Blessed Sacrament.

Learn more about your own faith. The more you know why certain things are wrong, the easier it is to avoid them.

Send me a private message if you want more support or have specific questions.

God Bless,

Hello,
I ,too, had some vices before I came to Jesus. What helped me was Reading a lot of religious books and watching a lot of Fr. Cedric Pisegna. His ministry is so inspiring. You are very young , stay away from bad temptations. If drinking alcohol is your problem, go to AA. If porn is your problem, get something to block it off your computer. choose your friends wisely… They can lead you to do things you shouldn’t do. If drugs are your problem, go to NA…Good luck and God Bless you:)
