Our Priest cut the number of readings for our Easter Vigil Mass from 7 down to 4…is that okay???
A priest once explained it to me that this is allowed, by the GIRM, IIRC.Our Priest cut the number of readings for our Easter Vigil Mass from 7 down to 4…is that okay???![]()
Yes, he is allowed to do that, if there are pastoral reasons to shorten the Easter Vigil. Our Priest cut the number of readings for our Easter Vigil Mass from 7 down to 4…is that okay???![]()
Well stated.Yes, he is allowed to do that, if there are pastoral reasons to shorten the Easter Vigil.
Some of the possible reasons might be: a great number of people are being Baptized this year, meaning that the Easter Vigil is already going to run past midnight, or, there are a lot of young children planning to attend the Easter Vigil, and for their sake it’s being shortened, or there are a great many elderly people planning to be in attendance, and again, for their sake, he wants to shorten it. There can be other reasons, as well.
