There’s been not much new news about the “Development and Peace” group here in Canada having funded pro-abortion groups in Latin and South America. Some commission has traveled there, but nothing has been published from Canadian sources.

But its reported here that the Bishops of Peru have identified 3 groups in their country, supported to the tune of $140,000.00, that are pro-abortion. And they’ve written the Canadian Bishops asking them to please cut it out. (A link to their letter is on the site with the news article.)

Has the nickel dropped yet? With prominent prelates (including our own here in Vancouver, thank heaven) withholding funds, and other country’s Bishop’s conferences weighing in, has it been realized that the Development and Peace organization has become so heretical and politicized that there’s nothing left to do but scrap it? I can’t see any Diocesan Ordinary who froze funds unfreezing them in the light of this.

This cancer MUST be excised!

Blessings,

Gerry

Our Bishop in the diocesese of St Catharines is also withholding funds.

Several Bishops have taken a stand on this, thankfully.

But as a body, they have been rather lethargic. In April, a group apparently went to Mexico. There’s supposed to be a report, but as yet, nothing. And now we see that things are even more widespread. No one has gone near Peru.

It will be interesting to see if the Canadian Bishops act on this, or act as if their Peruvian brothers are, shall we say, misrepresenting the situation. Or indeed, if they ignore them altogether as a body.

Blessings,

Gerry
