Neohippies. All peace, love, and understanding… so long as you are okay with their idea of peace excluding Judeo-Christian religion, love their causes without question, and are willing to understand THEM no matter what they do.
You just perfectly described the head momma of the mom’s group I was ousted from. Thanks for that!
You just described my brother :banghead:

Here’s what I did! 😃

The bottom link (ask Mama for vegan recipes) takes you to an “action” page that sends a pre-written email letter to this Mama asking for more non-meat dishes. I simply edited the subject line and the letter to tell this Mama how silly and ridiculous I thought Peta was and basically supported the cooking show as it is (even though I’ve never seen it).

So…if we all do that, hopefully this cooking show will get just as many ‘support’ emails as it does Peta letters.😛

Sorry about that. I’m sure it’s frustrating. I’ve met a lot of people who hold those thoughts. Some of them, folks I could have a cup o’ coffe with and actually enjoy on many other points.

It’s kind of a shame. I just hope someday they will learn to be as tolerant as they often claim to be. Whatever the case, I’m sure God loves them, too. We’re all his kids, even if we walk away.

I took your tip and here’s what I wrote:

SUBJ: I Would Love to See This web site go away!

I do not love the Cooking Mama series and PETA’s new parody of it, and I would love to see Mama make real food, with animal-based proteins.

Animals raised and killed for food do NOT need federal legal protection from slaughter, and I would love to see Mama cooking them up for dinner roasted, fried, baked, braised and broiled on an open spit.

Please consider adding loads more animal-based proteins, and remember PETA- People Eating Tasty Animals!

My brother isn’t tolerant of anyone, I don’t think he even likes his wife. Just a grumpy guy, who is always right! Make’s him hard to love. We just don’t talk to each other, maybe once a year. He never has anything nice to say. In fact he starts our yearly phone call with, so you pregnant yet? Life is just too short for me to spend too much time with him. I age very quickly when he is around!

Actually, we have a lot of food allergies and intolerances in this household. Sucks, really. Only one of the kids (so far) has the stomach of a goat. The other two have to really watch what they eat.

So, we actually do some vegan cooking by default.

Some of the recipes aren’t bad. We’ve even learned to like tofu. (That took a while.)

Anyhow, there is a use for that style of cooking. Some people have problems eating animal proteins. My daughter can’t be anywhere near butter or milk or ice cream or even milk chocolate. If raw milk spills on her, her skin blisters.

So, it is helpful to know how and some of it is quite healthy. I wouldn’t opt for it, myself, though 😃 I find it more of a PITA thing than a PETA thing 😉

Just to be clear, I have NO PROBLEM with people however they want to eat. I figure peope know what they like, what their bodies thrive on, and what their bodies cannot tolerate, so I figure they are intelligent enough to make their own decisions!! 👍 For some, these means a diet heavy on protein and low on carbs. Others prefer low fat, while others say no meat. If it works to keep them and their happy and healthy, great! 😉 What I do have a problem with is the PETA people telling us that we HAVE TO EAT or NOT EAT something!

Gotcha! 😃 Understood! 👍

I’m not a real big fan of cooking that way. I just know we’d be up a creek without a paddle if it weren’t for things like soy milk, etc. I’ve gotten some good recipes from people who follow vegan diets. Thankfully, they aren’t all such rotten eggs!

PETA is just plain odd. They want to “liberate the animals”. I guess they watched too many Disney movies growing up and started to think the animals really did think just like we do? The whole group is full of hypocrisy. They don’t want animal testing, but they will take the drugs that have been tested to benefit their health/their kids.

You can’t be against something and still reap the benefits from it without blinking while saying “Well, that’s different.”

Just wanted to mention there are non-crazy-people who actually cook that way for other reasons. That’s all 🙂 No worries. Sorry, didn’t mean to be nitpicky.

What is the big deal… yep, if you eat turkey, someone is killing it.
Same here. The turkey has to be plucked, giblets have to be removed, big deal. I don’t find it as disgusting as they obviously intended it to be.

My little sis has this video game (Cooking Mama) and the real version is pretty cute. It makes me sad that PETA has to twist a fun kid’s game into propaganda. I hope Nintendo sues them for copyright infringement.

Y’know, all of a sudden, I flashed on to that scene in the movie “Giant” where the kids suddenly ask, “Is that Pedro?” when the Thanksgiving turkery is being served.

“Yes, that’s Pedro,” they’re told (I know it’s wrong to lie, but COME ON!!! The turkey was a PET to those kids!)

And then you hear “Waaaaah! Pedro!”

I have no problem eating animals, but I have to say once you named the critter, it’s practically part of the family!

Oh, I so agree with you. The youngest in my husband’s family of 8 children is a girl (the last three actually) and one year she raised chickens for her 4H project. She had no problem selling them to others to eat or letting her dad take them to the butcher and freeze them up once her project was over but when one of the younger boys (older than she was) would say when mil cooked chicken “oh, we’re eating Miss Cluck-cluck tonight” or “this one must be Josephine” she just couldn’t eat the chicken that night, she’d eat everything else but chicken :D.

I did go to the sight but just could not justify taking the time to finish this game. Oh, and I just pulled my T-day turkey out of the freezer and put it in my fridge to start it thawing! Personally I am glad that we have factories that do this for us now - I am sure if I had to I could do everything except the slaughtering part - but isn’t that what the men folk are for;)?

I can’t believe they would produce this. The scary thing is that some people actually support PETA.

But to produce a ‘video game’ for kids and post it on the internet is really pretty sad.
If only they were so worked up over all the abortions in the world they could put some of that pent up creativity towards that instead of saving animals. This is a tops turvy world to be sure. 🤷

My Father-in-law has a shirt that says “Vegetarian- Indian word, meaning bad hunter!”
We have a family saying:

“Vegetables… isn’t that what food eats?”

I’ve been in the animal welfare world for many years - and have talked quite a few people into not supporting PeTA.

By the way, twice I’ve skinned and gutted a raccoon. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected.🤷

God bless *** His creatures,

Ruthie
