Non-Catholic Christians who dwell on every mistake that Peter ever made in an attempt to discredit him, only because The Catholic Church is founded on him.

If they pointed out every one whoever God chose that failed, how many of God’s chosen would be without sin?

If they didn’t believe that he founded The Church, they wouldn’t spend so much time attempting to discredit God’s chosen.

Notice, they never talk about Judas or Thomas (who denied Jesus “after” His Ressurection).

They never speak ill or point out The Pharisees’ mistakes or The Roman Empires.

They never critcize those who beat and who cursed and who crucified Jesus.

They only work to defame good Christians like Peter, like Mary, like The Knights Templar who have an unblemished record. And why? Not because they were failures or “imperfect” in their eyes…but simply because we love them.

It’s our love for Peter, for Mary, for The Templars that drives them to rages and fills their hearts with wrath and animosity towards them.

If they spent as much time studying what Jesus taught
as opposed to Peter’s failures or how many references they could find in The Bible
that suggest that Mary had sexual realtions after Jesus was born (an absurd obsession of theirs), then they might have found time to read this:

(I guarantee you that they can quote each error Peter ever made while all the time completely ignoring everybody else’s faults
and ignoring those who actually did physical harm to Christ
and acting as if Peter was the only Apostle who abandoned Christ
[save John], yet “not” be able to tell you where these quotes comes from off hand…)

John 8
7
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them,
“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

Matthew 7
1
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged:
and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye,
but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye;
and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

If a person’s faith is true, then they don’t “have to” attack anybody else’s faith.

All that would be needed to prove someone’s faith the true faith is by simply reflecting their leader in behavior.

I ask this…when Peter denied knowing Jesus, what did Jesus do? He redeemed him. So if Jesus forgave Peter, how can anyone who calls themselves a Christian work to “undo” what Jesus has done?

I learned this with Martin Luther. I was wrong about him. I wasn’t wrong about what he actually historically did, but I was wrong to use him and his failures to prove Protestants wrong (especially after finding out two things: The Martin Luther has been seriously misrepresented and that most Protestants rejects most of his teachings anyway).

Let my pride be like ashes.

which Peter, the mythical catholic one or the biblical one?

Sorry Pete29…didn’t mean for you to be brought into the mix.

i think you might be overgeneralizing a bit (imo of course). i have never heard anyone “hating” peter. i see them talking about his weaknesses in a way that shows us that God can (and does) use anyone. we don’t have to be perfect to be used by God and peter is a great example of that.

i have heard lots of sermons on thomas and judas by the way.

The OP began with “Non-Catholic Christians who dwell on every mistake that Peter ever made in an attempt to discredit him, only because The Catholic Church is founded on him.”

It should be very clear that I was addressing “Non-Catholic Christians who dwell on every mistake that Peter ever made in an attempt to discredit him, only because The Catholic Church is founded on him.” and not Non-Catholic Christians in general.

I was very specific as to whom I was talking about so’s not to offend any one who didn’t dwell on every mistake that Peter ever made in an attempt to discredit him, only because The Catholic Church is founded on him.

🙂

okay, thanks for the clarification.

can you clarify one more thing for me. who are these non-catholics that do this?

The biblical Peter makes mistakes, the mythical one is infallible and does not make mistakes.

I have come across some NonCatholic Christians who are so rabidly anticatholic that they do indeed point out everything that Peter did wrong as proof that God wouldn’t have chosen him as the first Pope. These are people who just strongly hate the Catholic Church. The ironic thing is that normally these types of Protestants also make judgements as to whether their fellow nonCatholics are Christian or not. 🤷

When I was a Protestant, these types of individuals annoyed me as much as they do now that I am a Catholic.😦

Who believes in a mythical Peter who makes no mistakes? I’ve never heard Catholics claim that Peter didn’t make mistakes.

Are you confusing how Catholics use the term infallible perhaps?

Just goes to show you that the Catholic Church is the big dog on the porch!

Frankly, to be fair to the Protestants, I don’t think the majority of them hate Peter or for that matter,Mary. What they disagree with is the importance of how we put both saints in Catholicism.

Having said that there are plenty of Protestants who seem to dislike both saints simply because to like or to put them in high esteem would be agreeing to Catholics’ viewpoint. This seems to be the fallacy of the work of our mind.

Things like this do apply to Catholics as well. Simply because certain practices are more common among Protestants do not mean that Catholics cannot do them. I remember sometimes back a local priest interjected, saying that the word ‘fellowship’ is a Protestant term! Yet Catholics do ‘fellowship’, so why the hair splitting about words. You cannot win them all with certain people.

Perhaps when things like this happen, a call to maturity is very much in order.

Dear Non Catholic Christian,

When you are in the assembly/liturgical gathering/mass or whatever you call it, and you are listening to your priest/pastor/reverend, do you believe that he/she is being used by the Holyspirit to talk to you, during the sermon? If yes, then he/she is infallible. If no, why do you believe him/her?

This is a loaded question and it is unfair. No catholic believes that their “preist/pastor/reverend” is infallible in their sermons during mass so why are you attempting to use this as leverage against any noncatholic?

I would ask when did Roman Catholic Priests become infallible??

I guess only non-Catholic Christian leaders can be “infallible” enough to “not” be trusted. 🤷

Good question.

But the response to that is, when reading scripture, are they fallible?

When saying The Mass and employing the Sacraments instituted by The Holy Spirit, are they fallible?

When doing their job, are they fallible?

No would be my answer.

When believing that The Patriots would win The Super Bowl?

ABSOLUTELY!

(Spoken like the true Giant’s fan that I am!)
