Catholic philosopher Peter Kreeft (Boston College) debated the Argument from Desire recently on the British radio show/podcast “Unbelievable!” with atheist philosopher Richard Norman. The show is always worth listening to - it usually has two people (sometimes a theist and an atheist, or sometimes two believers) debating for about an hour in a very polite, low-key format. Kreeft presents what often is seen as a very simple, even unsophisticated apologetic argument - that our longing to experience the transcendent points towards the existence of God in the same way that our natural (not artificial) desires points towards the existence of such things as food, water, and love - very effectively, and includes some arguments I haven’t previously heard that follow on the initial premises. Well worth a listen. You can download it and the other podcasts in the series for free on iTunes, or directly from the station’s website: premierradio.org.uk/shows/saturday/unbelievable
