I’ve been a Christian for three years and about a year ago have I decided to become Catholic (though, I’ve been struggling as to whether I should become Catholic or stay in the Lutheran church). But, Peter Kreeft showed me something in his book “Handbook of Catholic Apologetic”. He showed me that the Gospel is not that Jesus came to save us from the punishment that we deserve because of our sins. It’s that Jesus came to save us from our sins.

John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I have to repent and live for God. Please pray for me, as I’m suffering from severe depression, social anxiety/phobia, and general anxiety disorder. Please pray that God may keep me pure, that I may no longer smoke cigarettes, view porn, masturbate, drink alcohol for the purpose of getting drunk, smoke marijuana, listen to ungodly music, use bad words, slander others, and so much more. Thank you.

The Epistle to Diognetus talks about Christians to Romans that I love and wish to imitate. Here’s a quote:

“They dwell in their own countries simply as sojourners…They are in the flesh, but they do not live after the flesh. They pass their days on earth, but they are citizens of heaven. They obey the prescribed laws, and at the same time, they surpass the laws by their lives. They love all men but are persecuted by all. They are unknown and condemned. They are put to death, but [will be] restored to life. They are poor, yet they make many rich. They possess few things; yet, they abound in all. They are dishonored, but in their very dishonor are glorified…And those who hate them are unable to give any reason for their hatred.”

Welcome! I hope you find your home in the Catholic Church. It is truly beautiful. One thing I would like to say, though, is that perhaps you need to relax a little. Nobody wants to sin, and none of us is perfect, but conversion is a continual process, we are not going to conquer everythig at once. Ask God to remove your faults and assist you in your spiritual growth. Take things one day at a time, or you will become discouraged. When you fail, ask for forgiveness and pick yurself up and try again. Always keep trying, but do not despair. And when you are received into the Church you will have the Sacrament of Confession, a powerful healing Sacrament, and of course, the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of our Lord Himself to strengthen us.

We Catholics are also very blessed because we believe we have a whole army of Saints in heaven to pray for us and be our examples. All of them were sinners like us, and many were terrible sinners. They know what the struggle is like, and can help us. Become familiar with some of them. Also, turn to the Mother of Our Lord for help, perhaps learn to pray the Rosary. And of course, never forget the Divine Mercy of our Saviour who wants to welcome us and forgive us and bring us home to Him.

Anyway, welcome home.

Thank you 🙂

I do plan on going through RCIA completely and I am eagerly awaiting the Sacraments.

I love the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and I also pray the Rosary once in a while.
