Peter-Rock explained by Steven Ray

I was listening to a CD of Steven Ray telling his conversion story.
On it he talked of the location in Ceseria Phillippi (sp) where Jesus named Simon Cephas = rock.
He spoke of a large rock theer with a temple built on it and a spring or stream flowing under it.
It made a wonderful setting for the scene.

Has anyone else heard this? Are there pictures of the area? Are we sure this is where this Bible event took place?

Yes i understand. I am not questioning the bible passage, but rather the place that Steven Ray refered to. The rock with the temple to ceasar…

Steve Ray’s video of the life of Peter is an actual walk through the places Peter lived and worked, and is excellent, and yes shows the place traditionally referred to as the rock. it is available from Ignatius Press, linked on this site, actually all his videos on bible personages are excellent.

I was raised catholic and never heard about this. I’m finding it very interesting to read/listen to conversion stories.

Just goes to show that we keep on learning.😃

google the name of the place… it’s amazing.
also, read his book “upon his book”, I just got it from my school’s library, seems veeery awesome!
