Petition to Name St.Faustina, Doctor of the Church

“Doctor of Mercy”, perhaps? Hopefully she will join her “sister” Therese very soon!

This is a great cause. Thanks for sharing the link. Imagine contributing towards such a profound event!
 
The website cited says The Church defines a Doctor of the Church as someone of extraordinary holiness, a saint whose theological writings have been declared exemplary and beneficial for countless faithful worldwide in teaching the truth, beauty, and splendor of the faith.

Is her diary really her own theological writings? I thought the Diary consists mostly of private revelations. As such, do they constitute her writings or the supposed words of Jesus to her? I don’t doubt the truths revealed through her - I just don’t think recording words of private revelation qualify someone as a doctor of the Church. I may be wrong (and I’m sure at least one person will point out just how wrong I am) but I won’t be signing the petition. 🤷

They are still her writings, in a sense; but even if you subtract the private revelations, her Diary is still very profound and it has been the source of much light and grace for souls.

St. Hildegard was only recently proclaimed a Doctor of the Church and she is in the same boat as St. Faustina; she received many visions and locutions, but her personal writings are sufficiently incredible.

I’m sorry you misunderstand the petition.
Actually, St. Teresa of Avila’s writings were based on her many spiritual visions, locutions, and revelations. For that reason, she was named a Doctor of the Church for the solemn teachings on mystical graces. I do not see any difference with St. Faustina. Are you aware of the profound influence she had on Pope John Paul II who not only canonized her, but proclaimed the Feast of Divine Mercy based on her writing?
 
I think I will sign it. Her Diary helped me to understand things I would not have understood without it. God definitely used her writings to help me, and quite a lot.

If anyone hasn’t read it, they should read it.
