Let’s say that you work at a retail store where you stock shelves for various departments. But one day while you’re strolling by the pharmacy department, a customer stops you and asks you what isle the condoms are. Are you suppose to just tell 'em the location or refuse and say that contraception’s against your beliefs?

If it were me…I would tell them. They are going to get them whether you help them or not…the sin is on them, not you. My thought anyway.

i agree with angelsflight. tell them the aisle. additionally, it would only be a sin if you were to encourage them to use condoms. if they are at the store intending to buy them, then your conscience is clear. just pray for them. 🙂

I think you just tell them where they are. At that point, you are a representative of the company and you are telling someone factual information about the location of another item. Quite frankly, they didn’t ask you for your moral, ethical, or religious beliefs regarding contraception and I think if you decided to give it to them you may end up getting into trouble at work.

I highly doubt that every Jewish employee of a grocery store is limiting their help to kosher foods 😛

Tell them where they are. You are there to stock shelves and not concern yourself with the lifestyles of the customers. It wouldn’t hurt to say a Hail Mary (or two) after such an encounter.

I guess it depends on how much you need your job. If you don’t mind being unemployed, sure, give your customer a lecture about contraception.

If the sore has them, then he’s going to find them. Giving him a lecture will only annoy him and possibly get you fired if he complains.

Just tell him where they are. You don’t know why he is buying them and they do have other uses besides contraception.

Yeah, maybe the store is out of balloons and he needs a case of Trojans to blow up as decorations for his daughter’s birthday party.

Or maybe he’s going hunting and its supposed to rain and he wants to keep the barrel of his riffle dry.

Or he’s going camping and needs to keep some candles dry.

Or going to be doing some doing some recording in a wet environment and needs to keep the mic dry.

Or they ran out at the ultrasound clinic and they have a few more trans-vaginal ultrasounds to do.

You’d be surprised the number of Catholic women I know of that flip out when they see the Condom go over the ultrasound wand because of the mistaken idea the condom its self is evil.
