Forgive me for resurrecting an old thread (perhaps I should’ve waited closer to Easter, ).

I want to thank Phillip Rolfes, Beadsman Extraordinaire for a 33 knot Russian style Prayer Rope which I recently purchased.

I’ve fallen into the prayers easily and am grateful for an easier way of counting.

I ask for your continued prayers as I make my way home Eastward, and for prayers for Phillip and his family. May his good works not go unblessed in this life or the next.

Found the following at this website, Holy Rosary - Carmelite Sisters.
The Brigittine (or “Saint Bridget”) Rosary looks similar to a regular Rosary, but with an extra decade. The resultant seven Pater beads honor the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the sixty-three Ave Maria beads commemorate the sixty-three years it is believed the Blessed Mother lived on this earth before her Assumption. In praying the Brigittine Rosary, there are a total of eighteen decades: In the six Joyful Mysteries, the first is the Immaculate Conception; the sixth of the Sorrowful Mysteries commemorates when the Body of the Lord was placed in the Arms of His Sorrowful Mother; and the sixth of the Glorious Mysteries is recited in honor of the Patronage of Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace (and, for the Carmelite, Mary, Queen and Beauty of Carmel). The other mysteries are the same as in the Dominican Rosary. However, at the end of each decade, the Apostles Creed, not the Glory be, is recited.

That sounds to me much like the Franciscan Crown.

It is quite similar, though with one less decade, and the Franciscan Crown follows all of the traditional rosary prayers instead of replacing the Glory Be’s and O My Jesus’ with the Apostle’s Creed. The Brigittine Rosary also omits the Our Father, three Hail Mary’s, and Glory be at the beginning and places them at the end after the Hail, Holy Queen; ironically enough both the Brigittines/Carmelites and the Franciscans claim that the number of Ave’s represents the number of years Our Lady was alive.

I received my prayer ropes from Phillip Rolfes today! His work is more amazing than I thought it would be! To see the pictures is one thing, but to see his prayer ropes in person is amazing!
