I am not saying that God won’t love you if you do not believe XYZ! Please don’t misunderstand me; I hope I did not leave that impression.

I am just saying, that it is wonderful to know a God Who loves us.

And it is definitely an area worth exploring, and not because we are worried about what will happen if we do not.

I’m afraid I have some disagreement in that regard (at least if we’re talking about the Christian God, if you’ll forgive any offence I might cause). Christianity as I understand it does appear to work very much like that (without wishing to strawman you with my Protestant upbringing). It may the case of course that the Jade Emperor is real and he loves me, which as you say would be a great thing to know if it were a falsifiable premise.

I’ll check this tomorrow as I’m off to sleep, I think I’m about 5 hours in front of you. Have good evening

Oh, wow, yeah sleep dude.

Anyway, I might not be on tomorrow, but I will just say that, if you know that it would be wonderful to find out that a good God loved you and wanted to be with you, then I would be open to examining exactly that question.

All the way to wonder is wonder. It sounds like (correctly, probably) you don’t think this is the right vehicle for this conversation, but if something is wonderful to know, I would try to know it.

But I would be careful about blocking off my search with a throw-away about philosophy not being falsifiable. Most disciplines do not have the same level of falsifiability as the physical sciences, but we do not throw all of them away.

Anyway, I know you feel you have done a lot of search already, and you may have, but apparently you enjoy it - otherwise you wouldn’t be here. So, this is a fruitful avenue, given what you have said.

Anyway, you will be in my prayers, and I hope to be in yours (even if you don’t pray, it is a worthwhile thing to do, given that you aren’t sure about whether God is personal or not. Worse case scenario God won’t care).😉

The Gospel of Thomas is not part of the Catholic tradition, nor the Christian tradition.

Maybe not the orthodox Christian tradition but it’s certainly a part of the whole phenomenon of Christianity I would say. In the same way as you get odd fringe Sutras in Buddhism that don’t really have a great deal to do with mainstream Buddhism, but which are a part of the phenomenon of Buddhism as a whole.
