After mass during the feast of Corpus Christi, which honors the eucharist, Catholics often carry and very publicly display the eucharist in a procession through the streets of the city. This photo shows a eucharistic procession in the midst of very great destruction in the street of Munich, near the end of World War II. The Catholic faith rising in the ruins of war.
Thanks so much for that picture. My father was a young 20 year old US Army PFC at that time and might have even BEEN there. His unit, The Thunderbirds, 180th Regiment, 45th Division, was part of liberating the concentration camp at Dachau on April 30, 1945 and the city thereafter.

A group of the Thunderbirds also accepted the surrender of German units which included Joseph Ratzinger’s (future Pope Benedict XVI) … so HE was in the area at the time … and … might have been there (too?).

With all that devastation, some did not lose their faith, and turned back to God for solace … and with unabashed public worship via this outdoor procession with the Holy Eucharist.

We are sojourners through this world only. A better one awaits for those who believe and love their Lord and their neighbors in THIS world. :crossrc:

Tdoay would have been Dad’s 92nd birthday. I miss him so. 🙂 :crying: Though when I think about it … he’s gone from the world of devastation and war … and hopefully by now is onto … :heaven: With Mom. 🙂 … :crying: < happy tears

I do’t think you have to be racist to be “alt right”. I listen to a fair amount of “alt right” media, and it seems tocontain a lot of Catholics, Jews, Prots and others…as well as White, Blacks Asians and Hispanics. Varied yes, racist no…at least not in my experience.
