Still done in the OF, AFAIK…

I can’t imagine what they’re thinking…

Got it.

TBH IDK whether they do the same in the OF

I’m almost certain it was retained.

I’m absolutely sure its done with deacons, so I would think its still done with priests

These people in the picture and the altar seem to be Traditional, though

The prostration is still a part of the rite of ordination to every rank of Holy Orders, and also the rite of religious profession.

I ought to know. I’ve done it. Twice.

Definitely so. The picture looks the same as if it where an OF Mass Ordination. Been there before (as a PIP). I just wish I knew what diocese this was. The most we ordain each year is 2-4. This year, last weekend to be exact, we had one of our own young parishioners ordained.

True beauty. The humility of doing this publicly before your God is profound. A good image to keep in mind when tempted by worldly presentations of ministry as a ‘prestige’ position, or something one has a ‘right’ to for the sake of equality.

I actually don’t recall. It was a mix of things, one just sheer raw emotion. That’s always been such a powerful moment in the ordination rite for me to observe, so to actually take part was pretty mind-blowing. And I do recall occasionally entertaining the thought that I needed to get up slowly, as the MC had advised us the day before, so I didn’t pass out.

How long does it last? Just the length of the Litany of Saints

For most EC in the US, the bishop comes to the parish rather than ordaining groups. So I was able to attend the ordination of our now priest.

I believe he stopped multiple times approaching the Holy Place for prostrations.
