Hey guys! Long time no post.

So, I’m in an intercultural communications project this semester, and this particular assignment is to get a picture - or a collage of pictures - that captures some sort of intercultural mix. It can be about ethnicity, nationality…or religion! I was wondering if anybody would want to lend a hand with this. See, what I want to do is get a profile picture of a gaggle of women from different rites/ethnicities to see how we all dress differently for Mass. I for one wear a mantilla, but my Mom doesn’t, for example. I forget to wear makeup, she usually dresses formally but conservatively. Anybody want to lend a hand? Respond to this post with questions and/or photos, or feel free to message me separately if that’s more comfortable for you (:

Bonus rambling; I want to do something with religion because Catholicism means so much to me, and I know there’s a HUGE spectrum of how women dress for mass, and I figured it’d be a great chance to introduce a religious facet into a secular school (: Let me know your thoughts!

Wouldn’t google give you plenty? Search for women’s wear for church in Hawaii, then Ohio, then NY for example. No worries from members fearing having others see their family, friends or self in your project!

I haven’t googled this but I would think you’d find enough to get you started.

I feel like not doing your homework for you. Wikimedia Commons is a great place for Creative Commons licensed media. You can also find it by doing an intelligent Flickr search.

I think because it is supposed to be intercultural your best bet is doing your homework using internet sources you find as others have already mentioned. Not sure how “religious garb” from just a bunch of Catholics fulfills the assignment for intercultural either, but again, the internet is your best source for pics.

It occurs to me that many dioceses have Pentecost celebrations of all cultures at a multilingual Mass. There is usually a procession of representatives. A good, wide, crowd shot of one of those would do the trick!

Thank you all for your replies! I was hoping to get some pictures on here simply so I could fill out my information-end of the project a little more; if there’s any personal tradition or story behind how each woman chose to dress. But, after talking to my professor, I have a new tack to take and google will definitely serve me better. Thanks!

You know what’s the best org for that? CNEWA. Perhaps our OP could make a small donation and receive their print magazine, “ONE” or just browse the website.

Slightly off-topic:
Last time I was at the ICE office with my husband, there was a variety of different cultures / religions represented. Immigrants from all over the world - Sikhs with those stretchy turbans, Muslims with headscarves, Mexican family with a grandmother wearing a scarf. It occurred to me how common it is that one’s culture / religion is demonstrated by unique headcovering.
