I am trying to find a good Catholic source for photos and clipart for my church bulletin and other evangelizing activities that the church does. I’m a graphic designer so I want something other than text. I have found a few christian websites that have beautiful free photos and artwork… but they do not have Catholic images, such as the Eucharist, Mary, Saints…etc.

I am doing all this for free so I don’t have a budget, but I would be willing to buy a CD that has Catholic images. I just can’t find one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks,
Jules

TheCatholicLibrary.org has what I believe are free photos and artwork under their Gallery link with Catholic themes. I especially like the line art, the kind of prints used in old missals. They should be free to reproduce.

You could also check out the blogs The Lion and the Cardinal and Shrine of the Holy Whapping for leads, ideas, and inspiration. The first blog is especially good for medieval art. You have to be careful with these blogs though, I don’t think all of the artwork is free to reproduce especially since the bloggers often post their own artwork. But they can give you ideas of what to look for and where to look for it.

Are you familiar with Dover Publications? They have some terrific books, including a lot of clip art books with CD-Rom. These three could be handy:

Christian Art and Imagery
From the greatest works of Eastern and Western art comes this breathtaking collection of ready-to-use imagery. Its 200 color and 13 black-and-white illustrations include paintings by Raphael and Van Eyck, plus a gorgeous variety of mosaic and stained glass imagery. A helpful list at the end of the book identifies each image.
Christian Motifs and Symbols CD-Rom and Book
Selected from rare portfolios, this collection of 256 sacred Christian motifs will spark ideas for an array of inspirational projects. The finely detailed, black-and-white illustrations include angels, saints, and a variety of biblical images — the Good Shepherd, the serpent in the Garden of Eden, St. Mark as a winged lion, and more.
Christian Symbols CD-Rom and Book
Vast array of emblems — selected from Old and New Testaments as well as the medieval and modern Church — depict signs that represent the Trinity, the Apostles, saints, sacraments, holy days, the Ten Commandments, and other images of Christianity. Ideal for use by illustrators and designers — of interest to anyone fascinated by symbols and their cultural evolution. 456 black
Would you mind sharing some of the Christian websites you know of with free artwork and photos?

Thanks for all those sites. I will look into each one.

Here is a list of the sites I have found. Not all of them are Christian, some of them have free photos for all occasions including Christianity.

Thanks again!!!😃
