Physical demons/possession

As baptised members of the Catholic Church we have protection from Satan and his demons. Right? So we know demons can still roam earth and cause chaos but what does that mean for us? What impact does that have on our relationship with God and everything else?. Also I have heard of angels taking on human form in certain situations but would demons have the same ability? And about possession, would it be possible for a demon to possess a dead corpse?

It is unwise to mediate on such things. I would direct such queries to a holy priest, not on an online forum…where demons may be lurking.

Not sure if he was a Catholic though…
 
Keep close to the Sacraments, go to Confession when you sin. Stay in friendship with God and you have nothing to fear.

I’d suggest Peter Kreeft’s book on Angels & Demons.

Only God can raise the dead.
 
Only God can raise the dead… meaning He can only ressurect a person. A demon possessing a corpse is not bringing it back to life.

True but why would they be interested in possessing the living? Some say it’s because they want to experience the physical, and if that’s true I would want to know if they could do it to a dead corpse. Didn’t they possess pigs in scripture?
 
If you open the door to the occult, demons will come in.

When I was a kid, my uncle gave me a Ouija board he had found in the trash. I took it home, and my Catholic dad flipped out! He knew the dangers of it and threw it away.

He called our Catholic Priest to our house to bless it and drive out any demons that might have entered in.

I’ve used an ouija board before… before I was catholic, nothing bad happened though.

I don’t condone the use of ouija boards btw.

And it depends on what you define as occult, some people say yoga is occult…
 
Y’all are a bit irrational about your fear of the demons and the occult… calling a priest to bless the house… srsly? That’s a bit overkill.

Yes, demons have the ability to appear in different forms. Sometimes demons can even appear as Jesus or Mary or other saints in order to deceive people. This is why it isn’t a good idea to pray for heavenly visions.

And no, demons do not possess dead corpses as portrayed in some movies and TV shows.

Demons are interested in possessing the living because human beings are made in God’s image and likeness. Possessing what is made in God’s image is a form of affront to God.
 
All joking aside. I should bring a priest with me every time I walk into target. Sometimes they sell oujia boards.
