Today I kind of randomly prayed an act of contrition because I was worried I might have committed a mortal sin, although I was pretty sure I hadn’t. I prayed it “just in case”.

Before praying it I felt tense and nervous in my chest and belly area, but after praying it I felt like a weight had been lifted slightly. Now I wonder, does this mean I indeed was outside a state of grace until I prayed the act of contrition? Or was this just me relaxing because of praying? Just coincidence?

It’s worrisome since I was intending to go to Mass tomorrow and receive communion.

OP, you have made a number of threads, including this one, that suggest you may have scrupulosity issues. Please discuss with a priest.

Thanks. But what if I have discussed it with a priest but feel like making threads anyway?

We generally discourage the making of such threads, because discussion threads about scrupulosity issues aren’t helpful to the person making them and may make their condition worse.

@BananaManSuite I have HORRIBLE stress issues and I know where you are coming from. I bet whatever you think you did was not that bad, but if not receiving the Eucharist feels wrong, then maybe try to talk to a priest before mass.
