This Thursday I am going to engage in a discussion in my ethics class about physician-assisted suicide. Pray that God provides me with the wisdom and fortitude to defend the faith. Also, pray for my fellow students, that God may open their hearts to the faith.

Thank You

Good luck, let us know how it goes. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

I sincerely hope and pray that your debate will go well. I’m hopefully going to be starting college soon myself, and as a Catholic I know very well the difficulty of what you’re talking about. Sadly many young people choose pragmatism or sentiment over God and reason; indeed this is true of much of society. My only advice would be to try to show your fellow students (and even the teacher) that sometimes doing the right thing is more important than results or feelings, and that human life is not just some commodity to be used or abused as we wish but a precious gift to be cherished and defended. I ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, your guardian angel, and St. Thomas Aquinas. God bless. 🙂

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

PRAYER TO
THE HOLY SPIRIT

Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
enlighten our minds to perceive the mysteries
of the universe in relation to eternity.

Spirit of right judgment and courage,
guide us and make us firm in our baptismal decision
to follow Jesus’ way of love.

Spirit of knowledge and reverence,
help us to see the lasting value of justice
and mercy in our everyday dealings with one another.

May we respect life
as we work to solve problems of family and nation,
economy and ecology.

Spirit of God,
spark our faith,
hope and love into new action each day.

Fill our lives with wonder and awe
in your presence which penetrates all creation.

Amen.

St. Joseph, intercede for Michael and his class. Help him in this debate to present well. Help open the hearts and minds of everyone who hears this debate to value human life in all stages, including when disease makes life painful and difficult. Help Michael to present a message of hope and true mercy that respects human life and dignity. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may god rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Loving God, please assist Michael with Wisdom from above as he debates this issue in his class. Guardian angel of his soul, watch over him and provide protection. St. Michael, defend him from evil and help him to see beyond his own vision our Lord’s loving answers to the questions being debated. Give him grace to have a peace that passes understanding and for You alone be Glorified by Your immense love of those You created. Provide Michael with a page of good quotes/ information prior to coming in to this debate and a loving presentation that can easily be seen.
AMEN.
