If you are spending your days, or part of your days, dwelling on God, then your religion must be doing something right. It seems to me that there are people of all religions, who have felt the joy of being present before the Divine Presence. Without stepping on the toes of Catholic or other dogma, perhaps being in communication with God is of paramount importance and because it is so important, we have been provided with many ways of accomplishing this.

Today I am thankful for… well for today. For being alive and given the opportunity to connect with the Divine and with everything and everyone.

Hi

I certainly believe that God works in whatever way he can to change peoples’ hearts and direct them to Him (for our souls all bear his image). Your being thankful for today and ‘appearing before the Divine Presence’ is His way of drawing you ever closer to His truth.

At the heart of the Catholic faith (and of any Christian faith) is unity with God. This is what heaven is, this is what we strive for and as God is love, we strive everyday to grow in love. True, most religions probably touch on some characteristic or essence of God but as He is absolute, One, Holy and true, there must be one set of truths or precepts that guide us along the most direct and grace-filled path to Him. I encourage you to look at God’s character- who he really is and what the faith gives us and blesses us with to know and love God and to achieve that unity with him that all of us (so desperately), in the depths of our souls, long for

Have a great day:)

Hi Valke2,

Terrorists spend days, probably years or even a lifetime, dwelling on God. Suicide terrorists go to their death dwelling on God. But I’m sure we all agree they are not “doing something right”.

Dwelling on God is not enough. You need to know Him. And you need to be able to see the devil who disguises himself as God.

“Pick a religion, any religion” is not good advice. As politically incorrect as it is, you need to be critical of religions (even though this can be deadly in some countries). You need to scrutinize religions; their foundation and their future and ideology. And then the truth will prevail.

There may be only one, absolute truth to guide us along the Way. But since it is impossible to fully comprehend God, it is possible that all ways we have to connect with him are equally flawed, or equally true. I will tak your advice and dwell on God’s attributes, to the best of my ability to apprehend them.

I would disagree. I think that Islam, for example, can provide a perfectly acceptable way for someone to be apprehend God. The fact that others prevert it to justify murder doesn’t change that.

Therein lies my argument. How do you know who is perverting the religion? I will have to repeat myself…

Hi

Though one should respect every religion and be tolerant to others, yet I agree with you that one has to do a lot of effort to reach to the truth. Quran/Islam/Muhammad also point to it:

Quran

[29:70] And as for those who strive to meet US - We will, surely, guide them in Our ways. And, verily, Allah is with those who do good.

Thanks

Oh what about ‘kill them wherever you find them’ verse??

Sometimes we can get so caught up in our quest to ‘pick a religion’ or to find God that we forget the other side of the equation. Yes, perhaps it is impossible to fully comprehend God here and now but he fully comprehends us- infact he knows us better than we know ourselves- if you are searching, he’s directing. Listen for his voice- you’ll hear it, perhaps not in the way you want or are expecting it but no matter what, he’s holding on to you & won’t let go because He loves you more than anything.

Thank you for that beautiful reminder.

We can fully comprehend God only in the eternal life when we see Him face to face. But now we know enough to draw some conclusions, we don’t have to fully comprehend God to know what He wants us to do and to believe in. Your way of thinking is illogical, how can be Catholic and islamic ways to God equally true???

You need to know Him.
Its that kind of mentality that led people to invent all kinds of things about god.

If a person needs to know god then god will approach him himself. In bible stories thats what happened to Moses, Peter & Paul. Right? 😃

If both relgions are a response to the innate knowledge that the universe is upheld by an absolute moral authority – that moral behavior is not simply a manmade construct. Then there can be several ways of understanding that ultimate truth.

Put an object in the center of a room and you stand in one corner and I’ll stand in the other. We both have a true view of the object, but we are both seeing it in different ways. That doesn’t make my corner better than yours.

If I spend four days dwelling on God, I wanted to find out what I have been personally doing wrong. Many times, it is easier to see what I thought I have done right than wrong.

The more I know what is wrong about me, the clearer I know what religion I should be in order to get help on fixing my problems.

Thanks be to God for letting me be where I should be.

To accept diversity is to deny the existence of Truth. Diversity does not equate to the Truth. You can’t have diversity and expect Truth. If there is one Truth…there can be no diversity. So, what do we want…Truth, or no Truth at all?

I dont know if you need diversity. see if I can explain this well enough for everyone.

Truth can be found regardless of diversity or anything.

Truth is all over this world for us to find. Any source can state Truth.

But the source of Truth is only God. God is not here and Truth over there, they are unseparable.

Truth is found everywhere because God leaves His fingerprints all over His creation.

🙂
