Is it just me or does the artist’s rendering in this news story bother other people? I think that this man who is accused of, and confessed to, a heinous crime is being pictured in a pose that is eerily similar to many pictures of our Lord. It deeply disturbs me. Am I jumping at shadows or is the MSM again demonizing christianity?

And it does look a lot like Our Lord. 🤷
 
I agree it does look very similar to Jesus.

On a side note…this story is probably one of the worst stories imaginable. Prayers for the family that was killed and prayers for the little girl that survived.
 
I do not find it very odd or strange. I suspect this is probably a rather flattering image of a man who seems to have let his appearance decay.

The thing to keep in mind is that this man committed some of the most evil deeds a person can commit. He killed three people just so he could have a couple of young children as sex slaves. Then killed the boy after abusing him and his sister in the most despicable manner possible for days. It was only by the grace of God did that girl survive. And these four people may not be the only ones he killed.

In jail, I suspect he will live longer if he is sentenced to death. If he is put in with the regular prison population, he will not last long.
 
Seeing as to how we don’t know what Christ looks like, I don’t see how we could declare that this man looks like Him.
 
Yes…It bears an unsettling likeness to those paintings and depictions of Christ with which we’ve all become familiar. As far as the comment that we don’t know what He looked like, that’s a valid point, but for some reason the great western art has always pictured a person with a similar appearance. I am not familiar with the history of it too much, but one wonders whether the Shroud of Turin might have something to do with this?

I think this is the thing that bothers me about this picture. The absolute monstrous nature of this crime, compared to the picture which reminds me of our Savior. It seems to me that a parallel is being drawn which should not be made. There are many in the MSM who do whatever they can to discredit christianity, so I guess I just was wondering if anyone else had the visceral reaction that I did.

I am aware that none of us can know what Jesus looks like. As a matter fact most people are going to be surprised to see him when we get to heaven, as accustomed as we are to the images we’ve seen depicted historically. I imagine that we will instantly recognize him, but it will be “Oh, Lord, it’s you.” Kind of like when a loved one surprises us by being there when we didn’t expect them.
 
Ok I’m confused, did the picture get replaced? The only one I see is a photo of the guy, from the chest up, w/ short hair, no beard, and creepy look on his face, apparently talking to someone. I see nothing at all that resembles Jesus 🤷

Yes, that is definitely a different picture. The other picture that was shown was an artist’s rendering (like a courtroom sketch) of a man with long hair, long beard, whose clothes were kind of sketched to be like a non-descript robe. There were colors filled in around the figure, with a gold halo-like appearance around the head. I don’t know if there’s a way to see what picture they originally posted with it, but the first picture is very different than the current one.
 
whew, I thought it was just me. Where is the initial pic everyone is discussing?
 
That wasn’t the exact picture, but it’s very similar to the first image that was put up. It looks like they were drawn by the same artist. The first image was more of a frontal sketch. The face was looking down, and like I mentioned before there was a yellow halo-like glow around the head in the first picture.

Yes the picture was replaced…and it’s weird the accused looks nothing like the picture beforehand. The picture was a sketch that looked like a traditional image of Jesus with robes and all. I wonder if it was an actual image of Jesus that was posted in an error? Who knows.🤷

Again, prayers for the all victims, and prayers that the little girl can find healing and peace from her ordeal.
 
I am thinking that news site must have gotten some comments from readers along the lines of the OP. Horrified, they pulled it. I think that was a good move on their part. The last this guys deserves is a messianic image.

Oh wow, that DEFINATELY looks like Jesus! And you say the original was even moreso, w/ a “halo effect”? What was that artist (and the paper that ran it) thinking?! It looks nothing at all like the actual guy (even if he had a beard and longer hair). Something was definately up, even if it was subconscious, on the artists part.
