Hi,

Does anyone think it could be offensive to use a picture of a chalice filled with wine as an icon for a computer program?

The program is called ‘Lancelot’ and the chalice is used as an icon because he was searching for the Holy Grail.

I am not using it, but it comes on a CD that has other software on it. It bothers me and I feel guilty even having the disk in my house as I worry it might be disrespectful of the Blessed Sacrament.

Am I being scrupulous or is this concern valid?

Thanks…Paul

I would say scrupulous. Most of all because what it is picturing is not anything but the Blood of Christ. Sure, the program may be more based around Arthurian legend, but it is not a picture of someone peeing in the Holy Grail, it is a picture of the Holy Grail itself. I would say that unless the program contains something disrespecting the Holy Grail it’s fine.
