Hello to everyone,

I ask this question because many of the Rosary mysteries obviously involve Mary’s presence. There are many good devotional paintings and pictures of what Jesus might have looked like. But I have rarely or never seen any good paintings/pictures of the Blessed Mother for the purposes of meditating. If anyone has a good link, please post it.

Thanks for those links.

One thing I was hoping to find was something like that image of Christ derived from the Shroud of Turin. A lot of these paintings are a bit obscure or unrealistic, i.e., you can tell that they are painting and one cannot really use them as images for meditation. But that Shroud image looks very real indeed, very easily able to imagine the same being Himself in person. As I have heard some people refer to it, in looking at some of these “paintings” of Christ and the Blessed Mother, the painter’s unrealistic depiction makes Them look more like “Norwegian immigrants” than the way They really looked as 1st century A.D. Jews in Palestine.

The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is similar to the image on the Shroud of Turin because it is the direct result of a miracle. It shows Mary as she appeared to St. Juan Diego, made by her own hands. You will not find anything that comes any closer to a real picture of her than it. Here is a close-up of her face available through Leaflet Missal company: Bust Picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
