we don’t have one. a guy plays a bad guitar … and the choir is awful! 😦

same hear. Gather hymnal, mid 90s architecture, hallmark homilies. No dance though.

I’ve seen really huge pipe organs, but never saw one so pretty. 🙂

My school Loyola Univeristy Madona Della Strada Chapel

I hope the pic is not too big

Wow 👍👍👍👍 the first two pictures are amazing!!! Our is a about a 100 years old and rather modest. I’ll try to find a picture to post.

Peace

My parish only has a small non-pipe organ, but we’re getting a fancy $2 million dollar pipe organ when we move into our new Cathedral. 😃 I just hope it gets used…a lot. We have an awesome organist/pianist, but too many guitars.

S.S. Peter & Paul Naperville, IL. Not a great pic of the organ but you can still see some good detail.
This is the parish I go to for the EF (Latin Mass). BTW it’s at 530 every Sunday 😉

Here are pictures of the new organ at our Cathedral.

I was fortunate to be able to watch it be installed. It was a facinating process! 😃

No picture. but all we have is an electric keyboard/synthesizer, with a rather elderly man who plays it when he feels well enough. Sometimes he gets carried away with the synthesized sounds and it sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks singing the tune.

The “choir” is 2 or 3 folks who can (on a good day) sing well enough for the rest of us to figure out the melody and sing along.

We can fit about 50 people in the church - folding chairs, no kneelers, and its blasted hot in the summer. Cheap green carpet over raw wood.

It is a blessed and sacred spot nonetheless. We don’t go to Mass for the aesthetics, we go for Jesus, and He is just as present in our little church as He is in the magnificent ones above.

I do love a good pipe organ, however. The one in the Cathedral in San Francisco is a splendid modern pipe organ. Lovely sound.

Thanks everyone. those are some very beautiful organs. Those without one remeber that scripture does say Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. It does not say it has to sound good or come from a pipe organ. It just need to proclaim our joy in the Lord.

But it does not say when to make those sounds. The Mass is not the time to do whatever you want for music. The church has quite specific regulations on sacred music.

The correct time to make a “joyful noise” to the lord would be outside of Mass, if you are not willing to do it within the bounds of true sacred music.

The point is that even if you would prefer a Pipe organ. Which I do. It is not mandated you have one. That any instrument can be used to accompany True sacred music.

Also if the person playing the Pipe organ has no talents it will be noise no matter how sacred the music written is. if the person can not sing it will be noise no matter how sacred the music.

Yes By all means if at all possible Pipe organs in every church. But the Joyful noice should always be in every church played by what ever intrument and sung by all.
