Chicken will go bad just as fast as pork, and the refrigerator wasn’t invented right after Paul had his vision.
Perhaps then we need to start a new thread called ‘Chickens’ to go along with 'Cows" and ‘Pigs’.
Who opened the barn door?
😃

And which meat is tastier or has better nutrients? Chicken, cows or pigs? So that we know what we’re missing. 😉

You beat me to it.
For the Jews in ancient Israel, the dietary laws in Leviticus equal healthy eating. Something that is often overlooked.
God always does things for a reason, not just ‘because I said so’.
Your problem is the ignoring scripture. If God say it is so actually it is. And we can investigate why but we cannot/should not impeach it.

Even if there had not been any damage of pork yet we(Muslim) are not allowed to eat it because it is forbidden by God. Perhaps it is just for an exam by which people either obey God or not.

So if someone claim such thing that pork can be cleaned and conserved very perfectly but yet it is forbidden. Do not forget that God said. Is there any body above God?

Questioning this .
The Jews were being culturally separated from the pagan nations, set apart in diet, dress, and culture. It’s not like other cultures weren’t eating these things. Notice that many of these laws were in response to the golden calf incident. Is it beyond God to do such a thing in preparation of his people?

+1!

It is not G_d’s obligation to explain His reasons to us, or to make His commandments appear rational and obvious to us. “Because I said so” is more than enough when the Speaker is G_d!

Yes Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and so taught about it so people would get a clearer understanding of what is important here for us about the laws we must follow. As a Christian we follow Jesus Christ’s teaching on the matter for He is the Master!

The ten commandments are very important to a Christian, but we don’t make golden calves or idols of clay like the people of the OT… But yet it says not to do these things in the OT. What matters is the spirit of the law. Ie’. to Honor God before all else. see?
Karen, I do not understand which of the 613 (supposedly) Commandments in the Old Testament were “fulfilled” and which of the 613 Commandments are still in full force and effect. How are we supposed to know?

The Law’s end goal was preparation of God’s people for the internalization of the law. It was fulfilled in that the external law, which had largely been a result of the golden calf incident, had served its purpose and God’s people were now ready to internalize it and understand it’s true purpose and meaning, something they had not been ready for at Sinai.

We are also not under the Law anymore, but under grace.

I was tempted, believe me and as I was reading this the cattle right behind the house here started bellowing 🙂

Thank you for this. I do not think God ever acts as a despot demanding blind obedience in that way . He shields and defends us from real dangers then lets us enjoy safe things when they become safe

All food is safe as long as your cook it right away… if you don’t have refrigeration.

Why stop at pigs?

Leviticus also states the following:

The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you.

So, in the beginning it was no swine & camel plus many other restrictions.

Islam comes along in the 7th century and claims no swine BUT camel is allowed.

Could you imagine that if Mohammad has told his followers that they cannot eat camel?

Jesus started a teaching Church so we would know. Immediately the Church began to instruct us in the ways of Christ and what we should know and the Church was prefigured in scriptures. That is not to say that Jesus didn’t teach, because Jesus did as we see in the scriptures. In fact Jesus traveled with His disciples all the while teaching them. Which is why I mentioned what Jesus said about what defiles a man is not what goes into his mouth but what comes out of his mouth. In other words what we say defiles us and makes us ‘unclean’. Jesus taught them things directly and told them to baptize and to teach, but also sent the advocate of the Holy Spirit who taught the disciples what they ‘and we’ need to know. Now we have the Catechism of the Catholic Church to help sum it up for us.

SImply summed up by Jesus is found in The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40** All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”**

In other words, the ten commandments are found in just two. Love of God and Love of Neighbor. The kind of Love that God has for us… It gives rather than takes, etc.
