I was wondering if there´s still any practice of making commitments at saint´s burials or shrines ( “I´ll do this pilgrim´s route when my wish of ___ becomes true, dear Saint ___”). Of course I don´t mean a do ut des like trade with our Lord. But t was very common in former times, and I like the idea.
Second, does anyone know if there are different practices of such commitments in the roman and eastern catholic rite and in the orthodoxy?
Thank you!

I am not sure ‘commitments’ is the right word here. I am aware of the reasons behind a pilgrim’s wanderings or pilgrimage-the seeking for a deeper spirituality, as with The Way of the Pilgrim narrative. We visit shrines and holy places to pray, as a spiritual retreat from our chaotic lives.
