My wife and I are seriously thinking of taking a pilgrimage to Lourdes and Fatima this coming October. Other stops on the tour are Avila, Liseaux, and many other interesting Catholic sites.

I would really appreciate your experiences you have had with Fatima or Lourdes. The link to the tour is:

This trip has always been a dream of hers. I am fulfilling a retirement promise to her and want to make the most of the experience.

Thanks!

I went to France and visited all the places you’ll be visiting, but in reverse.

We landed in Paris and after a 2 hour wait at the airport, flew to Lourdes, which took 3 days.

Then we flew back to Paris and visited the sites your tour will visit.

Next we went to Nevers, which from Paris is a day trip.

Lisieux, is another day trip.

The only problem and I see it in your itinerary as well, is that you won’t be spending enough time in Paris.

We drove by the Lourvre, and I wished we had the chance to go inside and see the art. That’s an entire day, two days would even be better. If I ever get a chance to go back, I want at least five days to visit Paris. I would like some free walk around time there.

Then you’re going to Spain, which we did not do, but you’ll be exhausted by then.

Also, you’re leaving Boston at night, which is the common time to Europe. This means, you’re up all night your time, 7 hours and arrive in Paris their morning time.

It was an exhausting flight, but worth doing to see Europe.

When you get to Lourdes, don’t pass up going into the baths. That’s an experience you’ll never forget.

My wife and I made a stop at Lourdes on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. We didn’t go with a group but ended up befriending a group of Irish pilgrims. Make sure you stay for the evening to say the rosary with all of the pilgrims!

Just bumping this thread as I’ve just booked a week-long pilgrimage to Lourdes as part of our local Diocesan group. It’s only a short flight from Liverpool, England for us.

My dear husband isn’t Catholic, but is a committed Christian who supported me on my journey to Catholicism. He has many serious health issues which he bears without complaint, and I’m praying for a miracle for him. I think the whole week will be spiritually-uplifting for both of us.

Two of the greatest graces I have ever received were at Lourdes and Fatima. Both places are mystical, enchanting, prayerful and inspiring.

Lourdes is particularly beautiful. I could happily spend my life there.

I loved Fatima, although the day we visited was very cold (unexpectedly)! I felt I was being lifted up the steps to the Basilica - it was like there were springs under my feet. It’s an experience I won’t forget.

Lourdes will be a very different experience, partly because we’re there in late July. I can’t wait. 🙂
