Pious Exercise In Honor Of Our Lady Of Dolors

Bid me bear, O Mother blessed !
On my heart the wounds impressed.
Suffered by the Crucified.

An indulgence of 300 days, once a day, to those who, with contrite heart, shall say the Hail Mary seven times, and, after each Hail Mary, the stanza, as above.
Pius XII, Dec, 1, 1815

This is one of many gems in this old prayer book I have, and thought it may be an appropriate time to share it.

An indulgence of 300 days

Indulgences are now either plenary or partial because of the confusion which the number of days used to cause.

It’s good to know the older indulgences. 🙂 They’re more informative.

And one can at least still piously hope to receive them, through the mercy of God.

Many short prayers, traditionally called ejaculations, carry indulgences. Here is another…

Sweet heart of Mary,
be my salvation !
Indulgence of 300 days, each time.
Pius IX, Sept. 30, 1852

The number of these prayers seems endless. 🙂

Does anyone know if any of these older Indulgences have been abrogated ?

I love that one. 🙂

One can refer to the Enchiridion to see part of what has been done. FWIF.

O Domina mea! O Mater mea! memento me esse tuum.
Serva me, defende me, ut rem et possessionem tuam.

My Queen! my mother! remember I am thine own.
Keep me, guard me, as thy property and possession.

Indulgence of 40 days, each time, - Pius IX, Aug. 5, 1851.

Another wonderful one in honor of Our Lady !
Thanks Shin, I just finished the Angelus and saw that one. 🙂

I love Fr. F.X. Lasance. I have the repuplished edition of his “My Prayer Book” which is full of amazing prayers. One of my favorites is the Litany of the Passion…so beautiful. I also have his “Young Mans guide” from the 1940s that I love and carry with me.

Also if you get a chance google “Litany of Our Lady of Sorrows.” It was composed by Pope Pius VII I think. It is very beautiful.

Yes, Fr Lasance’s prayer books are chock full of treasured prayers. I have My Prayer Book as well.

And yes, OLS is a wonderful Litany 🙂
