Grace and Peace!
I would appreciate any (name removed by moderator)ut from posters here who are familiar with the parishes in the North Hills (Ross/West View) area of Pittsburgh. The local parishes in my immediate area are St. Teresa of Avila, St. Athanasius and St. Sebastian’s. I get the impession that it is especially recommended that converts join a more orthodox parish, and that’s what I’m hoping to do. I would love to hear any opinions from North Hills residents (if there are any here) on how the above parishes compare in that regard.

I’ve already made arrangements to begin RCIA this Thursday at one of these parishes, but I’ve also been reading some of the posts about RCIA improprieties and would really like to head off any potential issues at the pass by getting (name removed by moderator)ut from any Pittsburghers.

Thanks!

It’s been many years since I lived in Pittsburgh (moved to Corry Pa in 1949) and all I remember of West View was that there was an amusement park called West View and it was there I was, a 13 year old girl on VJ day - since I lived far on the other end of PGH my girlfriend and I had to walk (wade through knee deep newspaper and confetti) to get home - it was a day I shall never forget and thanks for the memory. If you ever say the Life Mag cover of this day, that is how Pgh looked as well.

Good luck on finding a parish there.

Scotty,

You are close to St. Boniface, where the Tridentine Mass is celebrated each Sunday.
Try that one. I love the Latin Mass.

Yes, I know about St Boniface’s and plan on attending the Tridentine Mass. In fact, another poster made the same suggestion in a PM.

However, I’m also looking for advice on the three particular Churches I mentioned above.

Thanks!

My wife and I belong to St A’s briefly back in 1987. We have friends that still live in West View and belong.

It was a good parish back then.

As for West View Park, sad to say, it is only a distant memory now. A shopping center stands in it’s place.

Thanks for the (name removed by moderator)ut. I’d really love to hear from anyone familiar with St. Sebastian’s, if you’re out there!
