I’ve recently been reading Fr. Pius Parsch’s set of books, “The Church’s Year of Grace” that was published in the 1950s and 1960s to help people gain a greater appreciation of the Church Calendar and the Mass. It’s similar to Dom Prosper Gueranger’s “Liturgical Year” except that it isn’t half as lengthy.

I personally really enjoy his insights and his wisdom. He has given me a whole new appreciation for the cycles of the year as well as the Extraordinary Form of the Mass.

I’ve also read his book “The Liturgy of the Mass,” which takes the Latin Mass apart prayer by prayer and action by action. He basically analyzes how the Mass came to be the way that it was in the 1950s and 1960s. It’s a really moving book and has helped to realize how much the Mass has changed over the centuries since Christ’s time.

I’m curious if any of you out there have also read his books. If so, what did you think of them? Are any of his other writings any good?
