Comparing what a fetus goes through with those who suffered during the hollocaust is absolutely ridiculous. they couldnt be farther apart. first off, the fetus has not lived their life yet, and they are not aware as to what is happening to them. No, they don’t get a chance to life, and it is unfair, but i personally think that the people who do have life and then get taken and held hostage and then killed and/or tortured under their will is even worse. Now if you’re talking stem cell research, it is also not the same either because they have not lived their life yet. Of course ill probably get a bunch of people who are going to try and steam roll me due to my post. go for it, it does not change my opinion and others that think the same that i do about this.

First, you seem to have missed the point of the article. The comparison is made between how Blacks and Jews have been targeted as “undesirable” and the means by which others have sought to reduce their numbers.

Second, unfortunately, the same line of reasoning you offered could be employed to rationalize or minimize the seriousness of the mass murder of newborns. Like “fetuses” (which are simply the same baby boys and girls on the other side of the birth canal, by the way) they have not “lived their life yet” and “are not aware as to what is happening to them.” So, it’s not really such a big deal to kill them, right?

I (and I suspect most people) consider the harming and/or killing of defenseless children as the most heinous of crimes. And what could be worse than robbing a human being of his or her potential and rights before they can even begin to realize them? The younger the human, the greater the loss, in that fundamental sense. I see no way in which this minimizes the horror of killing older human beings, whether in the Shoah (Holocaust) or in any other such atrocity.

Human life is sacred, from conception to natural death.

How do you know this considering they have a soul.
they dont have the mentality of what life is.
Unless you think that they are living in heaven until they are born and take their first breath. but that isnt spoken in the bible i dont think?

Read your Bible, Luke Chapter 1. What happened when Mary went to see Elizabeth? The baby in her womb leapt with joy. Hardly unaware!!

Calling the baby another name (foetus) just makes it easier for people to kill him/her.

Your tag says your a Christian. What happened when Mary went to see Elizabeth? The baby in her womb leapt with joy. Hardly unaware!!

What he said seems pretty accurate to me, a new born wouldn’t really know what was happening to it is you suddenly stuck it underwater and held it there immediately after birth. I don’t imagine that the yet to be born have any more sense about them. Still abortion is terrible and inhumane regardless of the truth in the matter of their awareness.

I can also see how comparing it to death camps is a little overblown and possibly offensive to some. Perhaps the practice of eugenics would have been a better example.

I understand what is meant by saying that abortion and concentration camps are incomparable, but I disagree that one is worse than the other. Life is life. A concentration camp is torture, but a child left by the only person in the world that is meant to love and care for him in her womb may too be tortured. I have never been in either situation, so I cannot really say, but I think that any life lost is a tragedy.

First off, im not a guy, im a girl.

And second off, I know a life is a life but a fetus is unaware of life and what it is as its not born yet. a fetus is a human who is still forming and cannot understand anything yet. Even when they are born, they are not aware of what is happening until later in time.

and yes, i am a christian, but i also know that a fetus cannot understand what is happening around him/her as he cannot even see outside the womans womb and ontop of that, they dont even know its a womb, they dont know ANYTHING yet.

Also comparing somebodys life who is already born and being tortured and being aware of whats going on to somebody who knows nothing isn’t the same.

you do understand that the practice of eugenics, a philosophy rampant among intellectuals throughout the early 20th century, lead first to the founding of PP, and then logically to the political structure that brought the holocaust to fruition? if not please get a good book on 20th century history.

I guess i agree with patrick when he says that comparing abortion to the hollocaust is a bit off. I DO NOT agree with abortion, but i would never compare it to the hollocaust simply because a fetus and an actual person who understands life and what is going on has different mentality. its just not the same and shouldnt be considered the same.

Justice Ginsberg’s comments are hardly surprising. There is an audio recording of Margaret Sanger, founder of the American Birth Control League, (which eventually became Planned Parenthood) at a meeting of the ABCL saying that she is starting this organization to market birth control to black women to keep them from expanding their race. She was a well-known eugenicist, as were most of the other people involved in the ABCL.

Nothing new here, folks.

And these are the same people who would claim to be ‘liberal’ and ‘inclusive’ and get ‘offended’ at any real or imagined manifestations of ‘racism’. Looks like Satan’s showing his true colours again. Many 1930s Anglo-American ‘libertarians’ admired the new, ‘progressive’ regime in Germany. That government was very proud of their ‘humane’ solution for citizens who were a ‘burden’ on society. And no, I don’t care if anyone accuses me of playing that card:p

God bless,
zdon

Do you realize that the word “fetus” simply means baby, or little child?..And that, in ancient times, when a Roman father did not want the child his wife had just borne, he would tell a slave to take the “fetus” out and leave “it” to die?
Just as, when the Nazis sent Jews to the death camps, they said that they were killing “undermenschen”–“subhumans”?

It never fails to amaze me, how many people are unaware of the power of language…

And, by the bye, in case you did not know it, that unborn** child** is being:crying: tortured, and:crying: ripped to pieces, and is:crying: aware of it, and he/she [not “it”] :crying:suffers.
And you call yourself :tsktsk:Christian!! Shame on you!!! :tsktsk:Shame!!!:banghead:

No it is a very good comparison. In both cases, there was a legal re-definition of what it means to be human. A segment of the population was legally defined as being somewhat less than human, and therefore could be exterminated at will. So the comparison is perfectly valid on the social-political front, as a warning on what happens when a democratically elected government defines a segment of the population as being less than fully human.

As far as the personal comparison; re: “not lived their life yet”, what about all the infants and young children that were exterminated in the Holocaust. They had not lived their lives yet, and had no knowledge of what was happening to them. Are you really trying to claim that the deaths of those infants is somehow more horific than abortion. If so, why?

And then, there are the mentally disabled that were exterminated. What understanding did they have?

Actually OP the difference is only in the knowledge of what death is and not in anything else. prenatal humans can suffer. many studies show that one of the reasons drug babies are so small is because they purpously pinch off their umbical cord while the mother does drugs. no animal…even chimps…do this. During any prenatal surgery like those done to prevent fatal birth defects the child flinches when a scaple touches their skin…their heart rate returns to normal when they are placed back in the womb. Children who survive saline abortions are across the board terrified of fire. So while they may not be fully “enlightened” they certinally hav suffered a torture similar to the holocoust victims.

to iterate what others have pointed out, author does NOT equate abortion with the holocaust per se but points out that the same thinking that led to the founding of PP, and to the arguments in favor of abortion, are based on a theory of unfit races or types and that exterminating them is a social good that should be promoted through the political power and that furthermore this philosophy has led to the holocaust in the last century and to de facto extermination of blacks and other minorities in this century. Those who make this logical connection are not comparing the subjective degree of suffering of the victims of these government sponsored tragedies, which is another discussion entirely.

Wow, way to downplay the extreme pain caused by scissors, scalpels, burning and other things done by abortion “doctors.”

At least the people being murdered by the Nazis weren’t entirely helpless. Unborn children are utterly at the mercy of parents and doctors.
