From what she has told me, she likes to pick and choose what she believes. She has told me that she doesn’t think that abortion is bad, and as I said in another post of mine, she doesn’t think pre-marital sex is bad either. She has also told me that she doesn’t believe it necessary for us to confess to a man because it’s none of her business. This really bugs me. I have been praying for her to get back into the church for a long time. I just don’t know what to do.
Honestly, you have a decision to make. Continuing a relationship with someone whose beliefs are so contrary to God’s will can only bring suffering for all involved. If she picks and chooses, will she be picking and choose which part of a marriage commitment to follow? Maybe the first few commandments are ok, but well, your neighbor’s lookin’ pretty handsome and, after all, he understands her.

The only answer is Truth and without it, having any relationship with someone who is far from the Truth can only bring pain. I speak from experience. Being married to a good, kind man who is not Catholic, he followed NFP, but did not understand why I needed to. Even with his support of me, because he knows it is important to me, it is very hard because we do not share convictions. It can be lonely, even in the best situations.

My daughter, 4 months pregnant, has chosen to pick and choose what to believe. The only thing keeping that child alive is the fact that she has no money and that many, many people are praying for her and the child. Here is a good source for information about Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood., but remember; this is a spiritual blindness and reading an article probably not change anyone’s heart. spectator.org/archives/2004/06/23/maggie-sanger-and-the-human-we

If she believes that abortion is ok, then she likely believes that she has the right to choose what to do with her own body. What if getting pregnant interferes with her plans? A child of yours may suffer death and you may never know about it, or know about it and be helpless to do anything. These are confusing and difficult times.

Please, take time to decide if you really want to be in a relationship with someone whose beliefs are so different from yours. Life is hard enough, without spiritual turmoil like this. It it so good that you are praying for her and prayers can do wonders.

I, too, will be praying your girlfriend’s heart is are opened and that you both will be open to God’s will for each of you.

It would be comparable to a Jew signing up to work at a pork processing plant on Saturdays (their Sabbath).
IMHO it would be more like a Jewish person voluntarily signing up to work at the gas chamber in a concentration camp.

She’s really into feminism and, while I don’t see gender equality as a bad thing at all, I know there are many ideas behind the feminist movement that are against the church’s teachings. From what she has told me, she likes to pick and choose what she believes. Minor Second:

I read all of your posts, and I noticed a few things… I’ll try to deal with a couple of them here.

You have ONE JOB - That’s, with God’s Grace, to get yourself into heaven. I’m glad you became a Catholic & that you go to Mass, but I’d really like to see you worry a little less about everyone else’s opinions and a LOT more about our Lord’s. He’s the ONE who bought you at the price of HIS blood and engraved your name in the palms of His hands. He’s the one whose opinion counts, not your girlfriend, your boss or your father. He’s the One who gave you life, and He’s the One you will have to give an accounting to (along with the rest of us) on Judgment Day.

Regarding your girlfriend, feminist or not, she needs to know whether you will assume the role laid out for you in Scripture, whether you will act as her Spiritual Head, loving her as Christ loved the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you can’t do that - and that includes attending Mass with her every Sunday, explaining why you need to be chaste from now until after your wedding and why she can’t do the Planned Parenthood Internship - then you really need to “break-up” before one or the other of you is really hurt.

Please be real careful, and, if there is any way you can do this, get one of the priests or deacons in your parish to provide Spiritual Direction for you. If you can’t get it, post here daily if you have to, and try to follow the advice of the Religious Posters (Priests, Deacons, Brothers, Nuns). If you know the St. Michael Prayer, say it daily - If not, look it up on these forums and then say it…

Your Brother & Servant in Christ, Michael

Sounds to that she isn’t aware of what the Bible says about abortion or what Jesus promised to his apostles and us in founding his church. John 20:22-23
There are over a dozen scriptures against killing of the unborn.
1)“Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you. See, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name…” Isaiah 49: 15-16

2 )“Woe to him who contends with his Maker; a potsherd among potsherds of the earth! Dare the clay say to its modeler, ‘What are you doing?’ or, ‘What you are making has no hands’? Woe to him who asks a father, ‘What are you begetting?’ or a woman, ‘What are you giving birth to?’ Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, his maker: You question me about my children, or prescribe the work of my hands for me? It was I who made the earth and created mankind upon it…” Is. 45:9-12
  1. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, Before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.” Jer. 1:4-5
  2. Jer.29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart.”
  3. “From my mother’s womb you have been my God.” Psalm 22:10
  4. “You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I praise you, so wonderfully you made me; wonderful are your works! My very self you knew; my bones were not hidden from you, When I was being made in secret, fashioned as in the depths of the earth. Your eyes foresaw my actions; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be.” Psalm 139:13-16
  5. “When you take away their breath, they perish and return to the dust from which they came. When You send forth your breath, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth. Psalm 104:29-30
  6. “Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man. Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.” Gen. 9:5-6
  7. “Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?” Job 31:13-15
  8. “Let the day perish on which I was to be born. And the night which said, “A boy is conceived.” Job 3:3
  9. “But when God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace…” Gal. 1:15-19
  10. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” Luke 1:41-44
  11. “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for
    thewidow.” Micah 7:18-19
  12. Is44:24 “This is what the Lord says, your Redeemer who formed you in the womb: ‘I
Am the Lord, WHO has made all things, WHO ALONE stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth BY MYSELF.’” And Jn 1:-3 says that Jesus created all things.
  13. Jer.29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart.”
And as for not believing in the sacrament of confession, when Jesus promised this power to his apostles it is implied that they must be able to hear the sins of the confessor or else how would he know whether or not to absolve him/her of the sins? If the confessor is truly sorry and sincere in wanting to avoid ever committing the particular sins again, the sins are forgiven by God through the priest. John 20:22-23
As for premarital sex, “fornicators” (who are described as being in grave, serious, sin) in the Bible means people who are having sex outside of marriage.
Keep on praying for her but encourage her to learn the truth as well.🙂

Got to the Priest for Life site, show her the pictures of aborted babies, then ask her is she still believes that abortion is not bad.
