Alisa Lapolt Snow, the Planned Parenthood lobbyist, who shocked the nation with her defense of live birth abortions in front of a Florida House committee, served on the board of Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida.
Its a good idea to check out your local Catholic Charities group before sending any donations their way. Its sad that this keeps happening.

Peace of Christ,

Agreed, I know the Priest who manages part of Chicago Catholic Charities, and he is a good and faithful servant.🙂
Good to hear. In fact, I suspect most of them probably are. Unfortunately, the good ones cannot be everywhere at once and its easy for people like this to slip in unnoticed and do damage, both in their actions and in the scandal which they cause.

It’s sad to say that probably the only foolproof way of making sure these kinds of things don’t happen is to make the bishop of the place the sole arbiter of hiring and firing. Micromanagement does work sometimes.

But even then bad people fall through the cracks at best.

Peace of Christ,
Code:
Do you know whether the group distributed any funds to organizations in opposition to Church teaching?
Until Blessed John Paul handed the CDF responsibility to address the abuse crisis with greater rigor, a combination of slipshod procedures, lack of pastoral care, and sometimes outright deliberate concealment of sin for personal reasons contributed to the problem. It’s wrong to assume that malice, rather than bureaucratic inattention, might have been how she got onto the board.

Please show me where I claimed that malice was the reason she was on the Board.

Regardless, there is no excuse, be it an issue of malice or inattention, when it comes to these things. As horrible as their opinion is, this is not your run of the mill pro-abortion person. This is someone who has also advocated for the killing of children after they have been born. In short, she is as far out there as it is possible for someone to be at this time in our country.

Here’s the Catholic Charities’ response to discovering what its former board member was doing:

*Dufva said former board member Alisa Lapolt Snow underwent a vetting process that included a detailed application, checking personal references, an interview, and approval by the local bishop.
The process concluded with an orientation that Dufva said “clearly explains Catholic social teaching on a number of issues, including abortion.”
“At several times throughout the process, potential board members are asked if they have any conflicts with these teachings,” he said.
“At no time during the process did Ms. Snow express any disagreement with the Church’s teaching on these subjects, and she signed a board member agreement wherein she reiterated that understanding.”*
People were urged not to send North Florida Catholic Charities on the basis of what a former member had done, when she had evidently lied throughout the process.

Actually, that is not true. I, and some others, urged people to check out your local Catholic Charities group before donating, which is hardly the same thing as telling people not to donate.

This is the second time you have made untruthful accusations against other members in this thread.
