Wow, I’m rather impressed Target took the stand it did. Kudos to them.

I don’t usually shop there, but if the rest of the company policies are conscientious like that I may need to spend some of my money there.

Are there any known boycott type issues I should know about Target before I start shopping there?
Peace be with you!

The American Family Association sent me an e-mail that says Target will be carrying some sort of sex toys and more sex paraphinaelia (sp?). I’d look into this more before shopping there.

In Christ,
Rand

That is my point…

Why applaud a pharmacist for not filling a prescription for birth control pills when right across the aisle, there are 50 brands of condoms for your choosing? Why the double standard? If a pharmacist is so morally against dispensing BC pills, then they should be morally against working a few feet away from the condoms.

I have watched “boys with skateboards under their arms” buy Trojans at Target. Never any outrage there.

While still morally objectionable, condoms are not an abortifacient.

Then I guess I just have a problem with the Catholic double standard.

It’s not a double standard…I honestly think that there are some things in life that you have to pick your battles and choose the lesser of the two evils…but in this case, if it’s a PERSON that has an objection to filling BCP’s or RU486, then kudos to them. They have no personal say in whether the STORE wants to sell condoms and bless their heart for having a job and trying to support themselves or their families. They’ve made a choice to step away from filling that prescription but they can’t stop others from buying condoms. And who knows if that kid with the skate board under his arm is going to use them for their intended use? I had two friends in highschool that would walk into the Rite Aid where one of the girl’s boyfriend’s mother worked just to buy a pregnancy test to see her reaction every other month… and neither of my friends were sexually active. In hindsight… it was childish and mean, I’m surprised it never was the demise of my friend’s relationship with the guy… but still… you can’t judge what’s going on when someone buys something.

It’s not a double standard… Catholic’s don’t promote BC, but we can take a stand to stop abortifacients from being used by taking a stand to not fill the prescription… so that pharmacist can now walk to Communion with a clear mind of thinking “I didn’t help that poor girl procure a possible abortion by filling that BC prescription or an abortion with RU486 prescription.” If only more pharmacists would take this stand. And if only more doctors wouldn’t assume when a woman walks in for her yearly that she’ll jump on a prescription for BCP’s. (or even when she’s just given birth… I’ve been offered more than once after all three of my births if I want BCP’s)

Anyway… peace to you and I hope you can pray to see it in a different light and come to understand that it’s not a double standard.

No I don’t agree. Most Catholics use birth control. And that’s part of the existing Catholic double standard.

It’s not a Catholic double standard… the Catholic church does not support birth control. If a person chooses to use birth control, then it’s on them, not the Church as a whole. So please don’t label it a Catholic double standard. I just don’t see it that way, that’s all.

I’d tend to disagree with the comment about most Catholics use birth control. There might be alot of them, but they shouldn’t claim to be Catholic either.

Anyway… I’m not going to get drawn into an argument over something that has been discussed many times over on these boards. 🙂 Peace to you!!!
