I appreciate all of the ideas. I genuinely wanted to know because I wanted to do something different this year. The Nineveh 90 sounds like a spiritual triathlon. I don’t know if I could do it. Certainly it would be in God’s strength and grace, not my own. One of my friends suggested a Bible study from Ascension Press. I like the idea of adding something and not giving something up. Maybe Lent doesn’t need to be limited to that official period. Some of these ideas should be year round. Thank you all for the great thoughts.

Here’s a good article on the topic from Dr. Taylor Marshall:

But I agree, some of the ideas (such as Bible study) should be year round.

Right??

I’m planning to try a modified version. But notice I said “try” because although I am going into it with the best intentions and lots of planning, I have doubts about my own abilities. 😦
I try to do something different each day. But this year I’m going to try (and the keyword here is try) to stay off of Twitter. In fact I’m going to delete the App. Last year I did this on FB and now don’t go on it at all. This will be way harder for me than giving up chocolate, as I don’t eat much of that anymore but due to my Catholuc school education get guilty if I do eat any during Lent. And sure glad Valentines Day this year fallls :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:before Ash Wednesday.

Yes Nineveh sounds very tough…

Its interesting too that when you add something,a person does in fact give something up to accomplish it.Such as when adding bible study, you would be giving up lesuire, or to attend daily mass, you give up sleeping later and so on.

Another thing to do is to also add in aspiriations. Perhaps the goal of 50 to 100 sprinkled throughout the day…These short one line prayers keep my mind focused on God and worship.
