For the love of Mike & all his angles! :mad:

I just got an e-mail offering me online access to Playboy. It was spam, so OK I just hit unsubscribe at the bottom right? I hit that button & a scatly clad woman shows up on the right side of my screen with a “are you sure?”

Where does this **** come from? :ouch:
 
Yikes, it sounds like you got spammed by a nasty spammer! They must have coded the unsubscribe link to pop that up.

As a general rule, you should only unsubscribe from legitimate commercial e-mail from legitimate companies (usually when you know you signed up and gave them your address). If you hit “unsubscribe” on genuine spam (unsolicited e-mail from bad actors, and porn content definitely fits that bill), then you are just telling them that it’s a live e-mail account and the spam gets read. They will then sell your address at an even higher rate, because you’re a “live one”. The end result is more spam.

If the “unsubscribe” method provided is SafeUnsubscribe from Constant Contact, then it’s legit. But if I have any doubt, I won’t even consider unsubscribing.

If I get an email from an unknown or questionable source. I automatically delete it without even opening it up.
 
Never ever unsubscribe from spam. You just verified your address was real.
 
“playboy” is bankrupt and nearly out of business

it is probably nothing but a link to a computer virus

When you click on many emails, it will send an image request to a server. This notifies the sender/company that you are actually looking at their email. If the sender is really malicious, he can code the apparent “unsubscribe” or “delete” buttons to install malware on your computer.

As a result of this, most good email programs today will refuse to load images without asking you first.

Also, just an FYI to everyone, that’s probably how a lot of those unsubscribe features work. It’s their way of making you think twice before leaving…:rolleyes:

I never thought about that 😊 Not good :mad: That’s all I need. I spend a lot (& I mean a LOT) of time around other peoples kids. The vast majority are girls. I do not need such trash anywhere near me. These children bring a world of joy to my life.
