Playing board game?

I was playing a board game and for the most part the game seemed pretty good. At two points though I had to read the question for a person to answer and it had to deal with sort of a sexual content. I read the question anyway and eventually kept playing the game. What should I have done in this situation? Not read the question? And is it bad that I read the question like sinful?
 
Id say no sin there. You read what the card said. What were you supposed to do? I have been in that situation, and if with friends I read thee darned card. I don’t want them to think Catholics are weird prudes. If playing with family I make up a question of my own and the adults know what’s going on but the adolescents playing don’t seem to.

Regardless of whether it is sinful or not (though I think there is the potential), I probably wouldn’t read it anyway. I don’t care if someone thinks I’m a prude :D. Strictly speaking, games that deal with that subject matter aren’t my idea of ‘proper’ anyway; they don’t edify.

I understand, but it really depends on the game. In the game Therapy, there’s really nothing smutty about the questions. But some are about Freud’s psychosexual stages, and among friends I am not going to skip such questions. It would be prudish. With adolescent nieces and nephews its just not appropriate.
 
Your question over your decision to continue the game tells me you might be having second thoughts over it. This is good, because the chances are, you will find yourself in the very same situation again and again.

The thing is, if you think you’re okay with this, then no problem. But, if you’re bothered by your decision, then maybe you need to rethink this. Many times, in social situations, we follow the group ideology and tend to go with the flow.

But at some point, as Jesus said, we can be neither hot or cold–we have to choose and take a stand. And on our own fallen nature, it’s not that easy to go against the crowd. But if you start to call upon the Holy Spirit for help at these times, you’ll find you’re not really alone.

Also, ask the Holy Spirit to help you in making the right kind of decisions so you don’t have to call upon Him later to help you fix the wrong ones.

Depends what you mean by “sexual.” If it was a type of vocal pornography, that’s one thing. I would consider that as sinful as posting pornography on the internet (generally a higher venial sin.)

If you mean “it dealt with sexual matters more indirectly,” then it probably wasn’t a sin. Everyone knows sex exists, and if mentioning it in passing was a sin, we wouldn’t be able to talk about sexual morality, or respond to this thread. 😉
