I go to a Baptist high school and every week there is chapel. Now I play drums and after some invites to join the praise band I decided to go ahead to. Now today someone said to me that I shouldn’t play for them because it shows I’m supporting them, which I shouldn’t be doing. This doesn’t really make sense to me as many of the songs played are used in Catholic lifeteen masses or come from guys like Matt Maher. I have to be sitting there anyways. So why would there be anything wrong with this?

Theres not anything wrong with it it is just a band after all and it’s a Christ centered band so i’d say your good. I mean it’s not your playing in a satanic band.

I know many sabbath keepers who play gospel for other churches on Sunday. Music that is unacceptable in their home church on Saturdays:harp::

You say you’ve seen a Life Teen mass… why can’t you play there instead? Or find another outlet? It isn’t wrong persay but it just seems iffy. Such as a while back there was a thread about engaged people moving in but not sleeping together. Morally there’s no problem, but it just seems wrong, and has the possibility of changing you spiritually in the wrong direction. But in the end it all comes down to your own choice, because there’s nothing specific about his laid out by the church.

(Coming from a 17 yr old singer:p)

PS I once went to a Silver Ring Thing, you know, the whole idea to pledge to be chaste until marriage… Well it was all going great until they began talking about being born again in Christ and then gave us this small chunk of bible that had side notes to help you shop for your church. Nearly every one pointed away from THE church  I threw the book in the garbage. It seemed innocent, but deep down it had the seeds to seriously hurt good catholics spiritually. Just and example:D
