When asked what his 2 favorite things to do with his free time were, one of our parish priests replied: 1) going to sci-fi conventions 2) Playing video games.

Mostly I like playing games because of the challenge. Although I think that the time spent would be better in more worthy endeavors. I almost always feel guilty in playing games when I think like that. Am I being scrupulous?

Depends on how long you play and if it’s taking away time from other important activities.

But I am more in your boat, I tend to always think I could be doing something better with my time… like pray or try to help someone out or both. We only get one chance at life, and a life looked back upon after one dies that is very much full of gaming would seem to me to be very depressing.
Only 1 life!!! Carpe Dium! (excuse me if my latin is off)

peace,
Michael

the last evil video game people…was sonic the hedgehog…🙂 i sorry…i loved sonic

Well, I don’t look at pornography and i don’t like chatting online. I only play games, and mostly single player games.
Lol…sorry you cats are off the chain…could do a morning radio show…how the deuce y’all move from video games to P**n! Y’all are too wild for me!🙂

i think i play them because i like the adventure & the action. i realized that i dont nessesarly play bc i get off on killing people, i could be shooting anything from a deer to zombies & the game would be enjoyable. but then again does that make me not value a life bc i take one all the time in a video game? i have often fantisised about being in a war & its seemed cool to me. idk that i enjoy killing things, but is the way im feeling a sin? bc i hope that if i was faces with the real deal id be singing a very different tune. & i know in my head that war & killing isnt a good thing. really im wondering though & any feedback would be greatly appreciated. sorry lol, im new & i forgot how to post threads.

I know I’m not going to make friends by posting this… but someones got to do it.

This scripture is in relation to violence and can be found in verse 5, chapter 11 of Psalms:

The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.

I don’t know…that didn’t seem very harsh…

I happen to rather enjoy video games myself - even the ones in which your primary goal is to survive a highly dangerous situation (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc.) aren’t necessarily inspiring of violent disposition.

The best games are those that challenge your mind in puzzle solving and hand-eye coordination skills. I’ve yet to meet someone who has blurred the lines between reality and fantasy

…well…blurred them any more than they already naturally are…

I will however say that I’ve shyed away from online gaming due to a personal concern I have regarding online interactions (I really have difficulty being blasted down by a 12 year old thousands of miles away) and the truly humbling rage they can inspire.

idk, that sounds pretty old testement to me, its not that i love violence, theres some thing i dont even like to do in video games, in games where you have a choice whether to be good or bad, i always choose good!

Hahaha - if anything, people with a violent disposition will have a far more frustrating time navigating video games.

If you’ve ever tried playing “Ms. Splosion Man” you will not function for long without a cool, clear head.
