Ok, I just joined this forum. I really don’t know who to ask or talk to. I would talk to my priest, one of the smartest men I have come across regarding religion, but he seems to be soo busy. So here I am…
Anyways, here’s the thing…
My family is not very big. My mom overcame a brain anyeurism, which was a miracle from God, and my dad now has prostate cancer but is doing very well with it right now. I pray to God every day to thank Him for the blessings in my life. It’s hard, but I know that He wouldn’t put it in my life if I couldn’t deal with it. My problem is my brother and sister. My brother, 28, is deep into debt and is always asking for help. He is in a relationship that will not last, but he can’t see it. He is not a practicing Catholic, no matter how much I try to get him to be. After all he’s been through with my parents, you would think that he would turn somehow to God. But he doesn’t seem to acknowledge Him or anything. I’m not one to judge him because it is not my place. But how do I get him to see the light?
My sister is another story. This is a girl who was drinking and driving, flipped the car with her ex-boyfriend in it, and both walked away without a scratch. A miracle! You would think after that, and my mom’s miracle that she would also turn to God, but she hasn’t. It seems as if she has a chip on her shoulder, due to the fact that she is stuck at home with my parents and can’t live the life she wants too. Also, I think she is angry because my mother is different after the anyeurism. She’s not the same, but she still is great! It could be A LOT worse but God made it to where she is still able to do the things she loves. I’m am eternally grateful for it, but it doesn’t seem that she nor my brother are. They complain and can get angry with her easily, and her reaction is that she cries very easily. I have prayed daily that God will send the Holy Spirit into their lives and deliver the 7 gifts into their hearts but it doesn’t seem that anything has happened. They don’t seem to show any love in the house towards my dad and mom. It’s sad.
My faith is still strong and always will be. I believe in Christ Almighty and know that through Him, nothing would be possible. I just don’t know what else to think or do with my brother and sister. It pains my mother and father so much that they do not have the same faith as me. Now, I’m not a holy roller by any means. I go out, have fun, drink, and I must admit, have the mouth of a sailor ( it’s a work in progress to get better
).
My question is, what can I do to help my brother and sister? I have no where to turn to because I don’t want to stress my mom and dad out. Plus, I don’t have a job right now and I just dumped my girlfriend of 8 months. Now they think I am going to be single the rest of my life, and I’m sure everyone knows how hard it is to find someone. That’s another thing that stresses me out so much.
Sorry for the long post. I just don’t know where else to turn or who to talk to. I found this site and maybe was hoping someone could help me out. Any advise would be very helpful…
God Bless.
