Does your ‘religion’, when you follow it faithfully, help you to relate to the true God?

I can anticipate the next question too: How can you know if you worship the true God?

Ask yourself this: Is He loving and trustworthy? Does He say, “Come as you are and I will help you be all that you can be”? Is He there for you no matter what?

What does your religion teach you about God and who He is? That will help you tell whether it is true religion or a deception.

God put desire to know Him into our hearts when He created us. Your question expresses that desire to know Him. What else is your heart telling you?

All religions are true, in the way that they show a little of God’s Grace and Jesus’ salvation. But there is only one master, Jesus Christ, only one Redemptor, Jesus Christ. The Reiligion He founded, which is now called the Roman Catholic Church, is the Religion where He wanted to put th whole God’s Grace. All other religions partipate in the Grace that comes through the RCC.

So, I would not put the question like you put. Hindhuism has got truths but those come throught the Church of Jesus Christ, the RCC (I hate this name!!! but it is how it is called)

You know your religion is true if you trust the people who started it.
In the case of Catholicism, do you trust that God created the world?
Do you trust the prophets and everything they said?
Do you trust Jesus Christ and His claims to divinity?
Do you trust the Apostles who carried on Christ’s work?
Do you trust the Bible?
Do you trust the Catholic Church and its teachings?
Do you trust that the Pope is successor of Peter?

If you have any other questions about your beliefs please don’t hesitate to send a personal message or to make another thread. And don’t worry, research into your religion and openly search for the real objective truth, and you will find it. Good luck and God bless

You don’t have to use that name. The ‘Roman Catholic Church’ refers to the Diocese of Rome, not the whole Catholic Church with all its rites. Just say ‘the Catholic Church.’ 👍

Some religions do not believe in Christ or the God that we know, so although I know what you’re getting at, I disagree so some extent. Did you mean “denominations” of Christianity, rather than"religions"?

All religions contain some of the Truth, be they bits or pieces. We believe that only Catholicism contains the fullness of the Truth.

Including the religions that believe that a spaceship will come and take them all away?

Other cultic religions?

Well even Atheism believes there is a universe and that is the truth. What we mean is that all religions have a little truth. Even most cults believe there is a God. While I can’t see the truth in scientology (:D), almost every religion is trying to explain the universe and has at least a little truth.

First off, we can prove that God exists and come to know some of His attributes through reason alone. Philosophy can also prove that there is only one God. For simplicity’s sake, let us say that we have a choice between the three monotheistic religions (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). At this point we need to look at motives of credibility in order to determine the truth. Motives of credibility generally fall into these categories: prophecies, miracles, and the witness of the Church. Regarding the prophetic witness, there are hundreds of prophecies in the Old Testament which converge to paint a clear picture of Christ as the Messiah. This Christ founded a Church in 33 A.D. Eleven of the 12 Apostles gave up their lives for this Church. Hundreds more suffered martyrdom under the Roman Empire. Yet, by the end of the 4th century, the Roman Empire had been nearly fully converted to Catholicism. The Church was able to take the Gospel and convert all of Europe without the use of the sword. Islam, on the other hand, spread through the sword and violence. Moreover, there are no prophecies pointing towards Muhammed. The Koran shows no marks of being divinely inspired. Everything it claims to know about God could be gleaned from Jewish and Christian writings.

Now, let us say that one has determined that Christianity is true. One still has to determine which faith tradition is the full embodiment of the Truth. The first thing to realize is that Christianity is not a genus, with the various denominations acting as species of that genus. Indeed, there is one Church that can trace it’s history all the way back to Pentecost. This same Church compiled the New Testament. Furthermore, the Church Fathers paint a pretty clear picture of the early Church. Their writings should be studied with care. All of the other Christian denominations were founded in the 16th century or later.

I hope this helps you narrow things down a little.

I am not english. I copied RCC from CAF.
I would rather use:I am a Christian= follower of Christ.
But the name is taken and consfusing.

Religions. Even atehism.
Tel you, no theist is so worried about God than atheists. They “say” that they do not believe, yet, they are talking always about God. No one talks so much about something that does not exist. It does not make sense.
Look at communism. If God did not exist, they would not have to have the trouble of going atfter God. But they did. Even now, China is worried about Religion. they Have a Ministery for Religion, something that does not exist in the US or the EU !!!
Just take a look around to you atheist friends !!!

I’d agree that many athiests are really closet agnostics.

However, it would seem that Athiests talk about God in response to those of us that believe in him. It makes perfect sense, methinks, to discuss things that one does not believe in.

Many astrophysics scientists do not believe in “black holes”. Many do. Yet they all discuss the possibility of the existance of black holes. Let’s assume for a moment that they do not exist. Some scientists therefor, discuss things that they do not believe exists.
